Electrical Systems Engineer

Job Description

Primary Responsibility:

Responsible for the development, test, and qualification of electronic systems in support of a wide range of frozen product applications. Responsibilities include test, development, and implementation of control systems and electrical components to support new and existing products. This position will work with variety of electrical systems, including embedded controls, motor and control applications ranging from fractional DC to 1-2 horsepower motors and controllers, and system wiring. The individual will be able to apply engineering design principles to support development and qualification testing of our electronic systems.

Specific Functions:

• Responsible for supporting the design and technology integration of electrical systems associated with new product introduction.
• Builds high quality and cost-effective solutions into the project results.
• Works with the supply base in the manufacture of embedded control systems.
• Develops and selects technologies, establishes test and design requirements based on program objectives.
• Effectively communicate technical and commercial program status to project sponsors.
• Assists with the development of control system architecture in response to new product development requirements.
• Keeps up to date with applicable emerging technical developments.
• Maintains contact with customers and suppliers regarding technical information and the program plans in cooperation with other departments.
• Develops and maintains associated laboratory equipment in support of control development.
• Works with supplier in developing and executing design validation plans around embedded control architecture and software.
• Assists design team with the development of system schematics and associated wiring to support new product introductions.
• Effectively apply adaptive thinking to create unique solutions to assigned problems.
  
  

Required Skills and Experience:

• Associate’s degree in electrical engineering, BS a plus. Computer engineering degrees will also be considered.
• Co-op experience in related fields highly desirable.
• Experience with embedded controls, Modbus, and Linux OS a plus.
• Direct experience with motor control applications and embedded hardware design is a plus.
• Experience with 6 Sigma a plus.
• Experience with PSPICE or SolidWorks Electrical desirable.
• Experience with refrigeration system control principles is a plus.
