, Job Description
As our Director of People & Culture, your role will be at the heart of shaping our organization's success through your expertise as an internal coach, culture cultivator, and talent developer. In this pivotal position, you will lead and implement initiatives to nurture a positive work environment, coach individuals to unleash their full potential, and champion a vibrant company culture.

You will also be responsible for building an exceptional talent and culture-focused human resource function within the organization, including but not limited to: talent acquisition, orientation and onboarding, employee engagement and retention, performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits, policies and procedures, and employee relations.
The position will be an integral member of the leadership team and contribute to company-wide planning and decision making. You will report directly to the CEO and also supervise the Office Manager who will provide administrative HR support. The ideal candidate will have a passion for talent development, coaching, and building a vibrant company culture and foundational experience in building on and managing a human resources function in a small but growing organization.
The position will be based in Denver, CO and work primarily in-office, with occasional flexibility to work remotely. Truewerk operates with structured hybrid work. The vision is for this position to be accessible and available to employees in-office a minimum of 2 days/week, plus be in-office for 4 days during company’s monthly “hot week.”
Salary Range: $120,000-$150,000 per year base salary
What You’ll Do
Human Resources Leadership
Act as a trusted advisor and partner, providing guidance and support to managers and employees on HR-related matters, including employee relations, performance and career development
Develop and implement HR solutions aligned with the company’s goals and objectives, ensuring that HR practices promote a positive and productive work culture Partner in the creation of strategies and plans connected to company culture, organizational structure, organizational development, HR plans that align to business goals, and change management
Interface with external HR service providers, ensuring seamless coordination and communication (in conjunction with senior leadership)
Ensure sound HR policies and practices that align with company culture
Supervise a full time Office Manager
Talent Development and Coaching
Design and implement talent development programs to enhance employee skills and capabilities
Act as an internal coach, providing guidance and support to employees at various levels
Identify training needs, create development plans, and monitor progress to ensure continuous growth
Utilize Predictive Index to optimize team and talent awareness and capabilities
Company Culture Building
Cultivate and promote a positive and inclusive organizational culture
Develop initiatives that align with company values and contribute to a cohesive and engaged workforce
Organize team-building activities, events, and recognition programs to strengthen the sense of belonging
Conduct measurable employee opinion surveys and facilitate action planning to address opportunities
Talent Acquisition
Collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and ensure alignment with company goals
Oversee the talent acquisition process, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding
Contribute to the development of recruitment strategies to attract top talent
Oversee orientation and onboarding, with support from Office Manager
Performance Management
Develop and implement effective performance management process, ensuring clear communication of expectations and objectives
Provide guidance to managers on performance reviews, feedback, and development plans Implement performance improvement plans with Managers as needed, and monitor outcomes and follow up
Establish approaches for recognition and celebration of exceptional performance
Oversee separation process and conduct exit interviews
Compensation And Benefits
Establish and manage compensation programs, ensuring competitive offerings and alignment with organizational goals
Manage employee benefit programs, including enrollment, communication and vendor management, to provide competitive and cost-effective benefits to employees
Manage leave of absences, workers’ compensation
, Qualifications
Experience & Education
Passion for talent development, coaching, and building a vibrant company culture
Proven experience in talent development, coaching, and culture and team building
Must have: Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in HR roles, including management of full scope of HR functions
Must have: A proven track record partnering with leadership and building and managing a Human Resources function and team during a period of growth
Strongly preferred: Exposure to eCommerce, DTC (direct to consumer), or consumer goods helpful, particularly for a disruptive brand
HR certification (SPHR, PHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) or commensurate education relevant to the field
Experience with talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement, and employee relations
Technical Skills
Ability to analyze and present data to various audiences
Advanced Google Sheets (preferred) or Microsoft Excel skills
Federal (US), state (Colorado), and local (Denver) employment law knowledge required
Multi-state labor law familiarity preferred to support our growing remote workforce
Proficiency with performance management and HRIS software; Trinet / Zenefits a plus
In-depth knowledge of HR best practices
Experience with The Predictive Index a plus
