Director / Lead Software Engineer

The Nasdaq CSD Engineering organization is expanding our technology center in Bengaluru (Bangalore). We are looking for a Director/ Lead Software Engineering Developer to join our newly started Central Securites Depository (CSD) system engineering team.

With this position we offer :

Join the CSD Engineering Team within Nasdaq Marketplace Technology. It is a new team which means you will be part of building a local team from scratch, but you will also be part of an extensive network of engineering people working with our CSD systems in Sweden and Lituania.

Your Role And Responsibilities

This role has two dimensions, one as Director and the other as Lead software engineer within one of our customer delivery teams.

 

Director

As a director you will be part of the CSD management team and will make sure your team is aligned towards the CSD and post trade organization’s overarching goal of delivering best in class technology to Nasdaq Marketplace Technology’s global customer base. You will work very closely with the other delivery teams (Development and Business Analyst), product teams and project managers to make sure the teams work together in an optimal way. 

You will ensure the engineers in your team participate and deliver in cross functional scrum teams, that they have the right competence and continuously develop their skills and cultivate a hard working culture. We will continue to expand the team so recruitment and onboarding new employees will be a part of your role.

  

You will also be expected to stay up to date on the latest trends in the engineering domain and apply them to make your team more efficient and/or improving the product for our customers. You also will support employees’ well-being during change initiatives, addressing their questions as much as possible, to help them to overcome concerns.

 

Lead Software Engineer

As a Lead software engineer you will work in a multi-functional product engineering team with highly skilled and expert Business Analysts, Software Engineers, and Test Engineers. Your responsibilities will be related to technical leadership and software development environment for a CSD system.

Responsibilities include: 

• Lead product development working with a team of 4 – 8 people as a technology leader.
• Architect, Design and Develop new sophisticated functionality and maintain existing codebase in an environment handling large volumes of data and demands for high availability.
• Participate in technical design reviews, functional specification reviews, develop project estimates, schedules, test plans, and code reviews.
• Proactively identify and resolve potential problems/issues including authoring of technical specifications.
• Work in an agile environment and contribute to sprint planning sessions, daily stand ups and retrospectives.
• Improve our processes to help growing efficiency.
• Join the vibrant dev community at Nasdaq and be pivotal to building a Center of Excellence in Bangalore.
  
  

We expect you to :

• At least 10 years of software development experience 

• Extensive experience as a Java Backend Developer.
• Excellent knowledge of Java, databases and cloud development.
• A Master or Bachelor in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Have experience working as a manager.
• Curiosity about the financial domain
  
  

It would be great if you have

• Experience of working with financial systems, especially financial trading, clearing and settlement systems.
• Experience from working with systems with high volume of transactions and/or sub millisecond latency.
• Knowledge of Container Technologies - Kubernetes, Docker
• Experience working in a cloud environment (AWS or Azure)
• Experience integrating test with a CI/CD pipeline. 
• Experience working as a scrum master.
