Job Summary

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Junior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing technical support for the improvement and optimization of manufacturing processes and equipment, in addition to owning small engineering projects.

The specific ownership of the role will grow as required to meet the business need of a rapidly growing greenfield facility, while considering the unique capabilities of the individual selected. This role is part of our development plan for new engineers and future leaders.


Job responsibilities

  • Design improvements/upgrades to manufacturing processes, equipment and workstations to maximize safety, operational efficiency and quality;
  • Develop/revise and document simple, standardized work methods (e.g. procedures and instructions) adapted to each workstation;
  • Ensure the integration of knowledge and skills related to work methods with operators and other resources involved.
  • Analyze operating results and problems, production processes, bottlenecks, work/material/product/information flows, standard times and equipment production capacity in order to identify and implement relevant and sustainable solutions;
  • Support the resolution of technical issues affecting day-to-day production and those aimed at increasing equipment and process reliability (e.g. reducing losses; rejects, unplanned stoppages and costs; increasing speeds, etc.);
  • Contribute to the monitoring and improvement of operational performance indicators (KPIs);
  • Own small to medium operational and capital projects for which he/she is responsible;
  • Contribute to the improvement of processes and the achievement of objectives in health and safety, production, maintenance, continuous improvement, quality and industrial engineering;
  • Listen to employees' opinions and suggestions;
  • As required, participate in, lead or coordinate work teams, problem-solving activities, Kaizens, etc;
  • Conduct health and safety risk analyses and develop solutions to prevent and correct hazards. Raise employee awareness of safety practices.


Education and experience required

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or other relevant field of expertise
  • Technical problem solving experience
  • Knowledge of continuous lines and PLCs an asset;
  • Experience in continuous improvement an asset;
  • Technical drawing and mechanical design software: Autocad, Inventor, etc. (an asset);
  • Microsoft Office Suite and Power BI.
