St. Anselm’s Abbey School seeks a full-time teacher of Physics to start August 2024.
The successful candidate will teach up to four sections of Physics to Upper School students, including Physics for all 10th grade students, Advanced Placement Physics for seniors, and a STEM elective for seniors. In addition to teaching, responsibilities include advising students pursuing Physics-related independent study projects, attending regular department and grade-team meetings, working with students in individual or small-group tutorials as needed, and communicating proactively with parents and administrators about student progress. Teachers may also be asked to take on additional duties, including serving as an advisor, club moderator, or study hall monitor.
The high school science sequence at St. Anselm’s includes Chemistry in grade 9, Physics in grade 10, AP Biology in grade 11, and a variety of electives, including AP Physics, in grade 12. Physics classes meet daily for 40 minutes, with a double lab period once per week (for a total of six meeting periods per section per week).

The ideal candidate will have some teaching experience (which may include student teaching experience), an enthusiasm for working with adolescent boys, and an understanding of the mission of St. Anselm’s Abbey School. Experience managing a lab, including teaching in a lab context, would be a particular asset.
