Job Summary
The Adult Education Lead Instructor is responsible for assisting the Adult Education District Coordinator in providing a program-wide educational atmosphere where adult students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential by earning a high school equivalency diploma and or improving basic skills in math, language, science, social studies, and reading, and or showing level gain as recognized by the Tennessee Department of Labor.
Instructional duties as outlined in Title II of the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) may include but are not limited to teaching, testing, orientation, counseling students, and other instructional activities as assigned by the Program Director/Assistant Program Director.
Essential Job Functions
Plan, teach, and evaluate student work.
Keep current with all curriculum changes set forth by the Adult Education Division.
Implement and monitor classroom instructional activities to ensure a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and plans for improvement using the current curriculum developed by DAE. Provide training for applicable changes.
Conduct and or monitor staff in presenting Adult Education Orientation and Testing using TABE and OPT.
Monitor teacher and staff record keeping, ensuring that effective and efficient record keeping procedures are maintained through JOBS4TN.
Participate in local and state activities/staff development.
Ability to work a split schedule including up to two evenings per week.
Supervise classes at off-site locations.
Assume responsibility for meeting performance goals in applicable courses and assist teachers in meeting program-wide goals set by the National Reporting System.
Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students.
Meet with staff to address their concerns.
Prepare and present information to both small and large groups of individuals.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Standards/Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
TN Teacher’s License (or approved waiver).
Computer Skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Minimum of 3-5 years Adult Education Instructional Experience is required.
JOB LOCATION
The main campus of Cleveland State Community College is the primary workplace, however the teaching assignment does require travel to Polk Co. & Meigs Co. OR McMinn Co. & Monroe Co.
Occasional travel to off-campus sites may be required.
