Technology Support Specialist

Provide quality first contact support for the organization’s technology infrastructure, and assist users with issues related to software, computers, mobile devices, point-of-sale, peripherals, and other similar devices.

  • Provide technology support for a broad array of technologies including, but not limited to, point-of-sale registers, end user desktop and mobile devices, corporate applications, user and group account management, and anti-virus.
  • When necessary, work with other staff members to diagnose and resolve more complex issues involving storage, networks, servers, and other related technologies.
  • Handle issues to resolution, engage vendors and other staff as needed with minimal supervision.
  • Monitor helpdesk ticket queue and radio communications to ensure requests are being handled properly and professionally.
  • Interact with larger project teams to deliver new solutions.
  • Constantly strives to further the mission of the organization and avidly supports the Columbus Zoo Family of Parks.
  • Implements sustainable practices in daily tasks whenever possible.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Technical school degree in computer science or related field experience.
  • Experience administering enterprise Microsoft products such as Windows, Outlook, Office365, and Active Directory.
  • Experience administering anti-virus endpoints and using anti-virus console to detect and resolve issues.
  • Minimum of three years (at least 2 of which should involve face-to-face interaction with clients) supporting end user computer environments and performing tasks such as installation, account and profile administration, hardware troubleshooting, and application support.


Preferred Experience

  • Experience installing and administering “edge” network switches such as Cisco or comparable technology.
  • Experience operating Audio/Visual technologies such as sound systems, projectors, and microphones.
  • Experience using or administering point-of-sale systems.
  • B.S. in computer science or a related field.

  • Ability to effectively engage non-technical users on a routine basis.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and execute work effectively and without direct supervision.
  • Ability to provide excellent guest service by positively interacting with guests.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with all Zoo team members and contacts regarding company business.
  • Ability to adhere to standard operating procedures including but not limited to safety protocols.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Possession of a valid state issued motor vehicle operator’s license and a good driving record.
  • Ability to adhere to the Columbus Zoo Family of Parks drug-free workplace policy including but not limited to random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and follow-up treatment.
  • Ability to successfully complete a criminal history background check annually.
