Position Summary

Apogee’s Data Strategy & Governance organization is formalizing a Data Governance and Master Data Management Program that will focus on implementing processes and solutions for Data Governance, Data Stewardship, and Master Data Management.

This Data Governance Process & Solutions Lead will fill a critical role in operationalizing the Data Governance Framework for prioritized Apogee Data Domains; educating our IT & Business Partners; supporting our Profisee MDM solution; implementing and supporting future Data Catalog and Quality solutions; and consulting on data-related projects from a Data Governance or MDM perspective across the organization.

Responsibilities

Data Governance Domain Process and Capabilities

  • Lead the implementation and operationalization of the Data Governance Framework for prioritized data domains across Apogee.
  • Partner with business data owners and stewards to determine field ownership, define and document business rules, document data management practices, and establish sustainable data governance in their domains.
  • Evaluate and recommend organizational and procedural requirements to enable sustainable MDM practices across all of Apogee’s Master Data domains.
  • Identify data process improvement opportunities, data quality issues and governance gaps within Apogee Data Domains.
  • Facilitate Domain Governance Councils to drive accountability, decision making and action within Master Data domains

Data Governance Framework and Solutions

  • Develop a deep expertise of the Apogee Data Governance Framework and be able to apply it across prioritized data domains as well as enhance it appropriately.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Profisee MDM solution, and act as the Business Product Owner to drive efficiency, prioritize improvements/ enhancements and deliver reports.
  • Establish best practices and support mechanisms for Profisee and other future Data Governance solutions.
  • Partner with IT Leads and Business Leaders to advance Data Governance tools for Master Data Management, Data Cataloging, Data Verification and Data Quality Reporting
  • Process owner for developing monitoring and reporting Governance compliance

Data Governance Consulting and Mentoring

  • Educate and coach Process Owners, Data Stewards, Data SMEs across Apogee and the business to ensure sustainability of Data Stewardship practices
  • Consult with teams across Apogee on data-related projects to ensure consistent and appropriate governance and data management practices
  • Facilitate Center of Excellence to institute a community of stewardship
  • Benchmark with other Data Governance organizations to ensure Apogee is staying relevant and leveraging industry best practices & advancements

Experience

Experience & Skills

  • Defining processes and leading process improvement
  • High-level understanding of data models, system data flows and the importance of data integrity
  • Basic understanding of the concepts of governance, controls, quality metrics and data management
  • Managing and delivering several medium to large projects or programs
  • Leading, influencing, coaching, and mentoring others
  • Experience and comfort in leading when not necessarily a subject matter expert

Required Skills

  • Strong leadership, communication, influencing and interpersonal skills
