Responsible for administratively managing grants from proposal through implementation, including researching and developing federal, state, county, municipal, foundation, corporate, and individual grant funding opportunities, the preparation, and the submission of grant proposals sufficient to maintain all currently renewable grants/agreements, and to pursue and successfully apply for new funding. May be deemed to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.

The Community Relations & Events Manager is responsible for supporting Broward House development efforts through building and maintaining community engagement, marketing, and fundraising activities that will have a positive impact on the agency and the community. Broward House is primarily funded by government grants, and this position will assist in promoting our mission and needs to the community and help develop strategies and initiatives to help fill gaps in funding.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Establish and maintain positive relationships between Broward House and its employees, donors, community members, external organizations, the media, and other organizations
Act as a principal ambassador/representative for Broward House, sharing our mission and vision with the local community
Manage all Broward House events, fundraising activities, third-party structured events and deliverables, including promotion, preparation, execution, and post-event activities
Prepare a written plan with budget, objectives, time frames, and meaningful and measurable goals for each event
Engage staff in knowledge and participation of Development events
Develop and maintain volunteers, both internal and external to the agency
Implement solicitation and stewardship strategy for donors, event sponsors, and vendors in conjunction with Director of Development
Assist in development and maintenance of agency database ensuring donor and community member contact information is accurate and kept up to date
Prepare and track donor agency acknowledgement including letters in a timely manner
Attend relevant events and activities to represent the agency and build strong relationships with key community members
Respond to inquiries from community members and other parties, and recruit knowledgeable spokespeople or information sources for assistance when needed
Provide logistical support for Development activities including setup/breakdown, participation, and volunteer organization
Scan social media, print media, and other news outlets for pertinent agency information, and direct information to Executive Staff or Director of Development as needed
Contribute to social media, email and print marketing materials, and website content
Participate in committees, task forces, and meetings as assigned

Education And Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, business, marketing, or related field preferred
2-3 years’ experience in community relations, fundraising, event planning, or related activities
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Valid Florida Driver’s License and ongoing proof of insurance
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Some physical effort may be required to push, move, and lift light objects less than 20 pounds. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard, with extended periods of visual concentration.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Indoor, air conditioned, well-ventilated environment. Position may require time outside in the field with adverse weather conditions. Weekend and evening hours required.
