Sirona care & health Clevedon, England, United Kingdom
No longer accepting applications

We are looking for an enthusiastic clinical psychologist to join our team of psychologists working with people with learning disabilities. We are keen to hear from both nearly qualified and newly qualified applicants, as well as those wanting to develop existing post-qualification skills. We have a ringfenced psychology CPD budget. Last year we funded clinicians to attend training on CFT, ACT, DDP, EMDR and to attend a variety of national conferences.

Psychology input is highly valued by the wider MDT team, and you would be warmly welcomed and able to make a positive contribution to the lives of people with learning disabilities. We are part of a multidisciplinary community team known as Sirona Adult Learning Disability Health Service (SALDHS). We enjoy close working relationships with our arts therapies colleagues and clinicians working with people with LD across the region.

Our service covers Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire, which gives some flexibility about the post holder’s core base. We use a hybrid model of home-office working.

The post is up to 37.5 hours a week, with flexibility about core hours. We will consider full-time or part-time hours, job share and/or flexible hours.

Referrals are varied and can include working with loss, trauma, relationships, neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric conditions (including autism spectrum disorders), dementia and neuro degenerative conditions, mental health difficulties, and risk of harm to self or others. We draw on expertise from a range of clinical areas and theoretical orientations.

As part of the team, you would provide highly specialist assessments, clinical formulations, therapeutic interventions and wider service support to prevent and reduce the incidence and impact of psychosocial/mental health difficulties. You will be part of the allocations process, contribute to clinical case discussion and share psychological thinking with the team.

As well as direct work with people with learning disabilities, their families and service providers, you would provide consultation to other mainstream, secondary and tertiary services.

The post holder may provide clinical supervision and training for colleagues and assistant psychologists.
