Childrens Support Worker - Complex / Challenging Behaviour

This role involves supporting some of the most vulnerable and challenging individuals in society. Behaviours you should expect to experience can include violent and challenging behaviours, which can occur daily.

Calderdale Homecare Ltd are looking for experienced Support Workers who have experience in working with challenging behaviours to join our team in Newcastle.

As aSupport Worker, you will be kind and compassionate building caring and supportive relationships with the individual you support and their families. AtCalderdale, we want everyone to reach their full potential. As a Support Worker, you will:

Be engaging, calm, and have a can-do attitude, learning and adapting with the individual youre supporting

Be a great communicator, listening to the individual to understand their wants, needs, dreams and ambitions.

Have the individuals best interests in everything you do, protecting their dignity

Be a motivator, encouraging and guiding the individual to take small but brave steps towards learning new skills, meeting new people and attending local community groups

Support the individual to become as independent as they can, making their own choices and decisions

  • Provide effective day to day shift cover that supports the needs of the Service.
  • Take part in working within a small team to ensure our service user receives the care needed in line with their agreed support plan.
  • Be confident in delivering a high quality of care when working in the ever-changing environment, being able to adapt approaches to be versatile in challenging situations.
  • At least 1 Years experience as a support worker or healthcare assistant working with significant challenging behaviours in either secure or residential services.
  • Experience working with individuals who display challenging behaviours.
  • Be passionate about making a real difference to young people's lives, and supporting them to be as independent, safe, healthy, and happy as they possibly can be.
  • Theoretical and practical experience working with vulnerable young people and children.
  • Right to work in the UK.

TRAINING

  • induction training:classroom-based, includes shadowing and additional online modules.
  • Additional learning disabilities, autism and mental health training:provided to all new recruits - equipping you to meet the needs of our customers and enabling you to provide tailored, personalised support.
  • Training development:funded Level 2 and other accredited courses.

  • Care: 1 year (required)
  • Restraint: 1 year (required)
