Job Title: Assistant Accountant

Location: Head Office, Leicestershire

Salary: Competitive plus bonus & benefits

This is a fantastic opportunity for a part qualified accountant to join a dynamic finance team supporting the Next business. Located within our Leicestershire Head Office, our Cash Accounting team is responsible for delivering finance support to key stakeholders across the business for a variety of purposes.

About You

Next is a dynamic and fast growing business, to succeed in this role you must be happy in a fast-moving, fluid, ever-changing environment. You will need a mixture of solid financial / management accounting skills, coupled with financial analysis to maintain core financial controls, support ‘Key Stakeholders’ and business initiatives.

You are ideally someone who thinks about the impact on the Customer and wider Business, a person that above all values the need for procedure, control and auditability.

Working as an integral part of our cash accounting team, the successful candidate will be primarily responsible for supporting our UK Retail and Online business.

Key Responsibilities

Finance Management

  • Responsibility for all payments for Next UK Retail stores
  • Ownership of retail tender reconciliations c.£2bn p.a
  • Daily reconciliation of retail payments received (c.£20m p.a) to ensure discrepancies are

resolved in a timely manner (470 Next stores)

Cost Management

  • Review and validation of invoiced charges in line with contracted rates
  • Ensure costs are accurately accrued each month

Analysis and Reporting

  • Provide daily / weekly reporting around key cash KPIs to support Retail Field Team to

address any issues

  • Support the audit process with any ad hoc queries

What We Are Looking For

  • A proactive Part qualified accountant CIMA/ACCA/ACA with proven experience of working in a large company
  • The ability to work productively, efficiently and effectively, maintaining attention to detail and quality
  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to think outside the box
  • Ability to self motivate in a fast pace challenging and demanding environment with changing priorities
  • Proven ability to plan and prioritise workloads whilst working to strict deadlines
  • Can effectively communicate both orally and in writing and have the ability to influence and

constructively challenge

  • Strong control skills
  • Exceptional working knowledge of MS Office (esp. MS Excel) suite of products, Google G Suite is desirable
  • SQL & Microsoft SSMS is experience is desirable
