Technical Data Business Analyst

Position: Technical Data Business Analyst

Term: The duration is anticipated to be a three (3) month terms with an option to extend for an additional two (2) one (1) month terms. The estimated start date is July 23 or 30, 2024. These roles are anticipated to be performed remotely.

Project: Reporting Database Builds

Position Objective: We are seeking a Technical Data Business Analyst to support our Reporting Database builds. The successful candidate will conduct thorough system and data analysis, documenting the parameters for table builds through requirements gathering for General Ledger Functional Centers, Case Costing, MIS reporting, and other reporting-related changes in HIS encounter structures.

Qualifications: We are looking for a candidate with strong SQL and technical knowledge, with a preference for those with technical writing experience.

Experience Required

  • Requirements gathering, creating user stories, use case diagrams, and process flows
  • Conducting requirements gathering for data warehouse or DataMarts
  • Aligning source data systems with functional business and IT needs, including functional and non-functional requirements
  • Analyzing source system data from tables and developing technical requirements
  • Collaborating closely with IT, data architects, SMEs, and other departments
  • Systems implementation, including developing test cases and performing testing and validations
  • Maintaining product backlogs and release backlogs with forecasted delivery timelines
  • Hands-on experience with data mapping and transformation rules
  • Applying data governance practices to ensure high-quality data analysis

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate requirements gathering and design sessions with multiple stakeholders, creating key artifacts such as user stories, use case diagrams, and process flows
  • Bridge the gap between business and IT, ensuring common understanding and alignment of both functional and non-functional requirements
  • Analyze and develop technical data requirements based on current state system design documents and business needs
  • Work closely with IT and data architects, SMEs, and other departments to implement solutions and ensure alignment with business goals
  • Participate in systems implementation by developing test cases, performing testing, and validations
  • Assist in refining and maintaining the product backlog and associated deliverables, including the release backlog with forecasted delivery timelines
  • Understand data requirements to articulate and build data mapping and transformation rules
  • Employ key data governance practices to ensure high-quality data analysis, relationships, and interdependencies
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to ongoing optimization efforts
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

Skills

  • Comprehensive understanding of data analytics, report writing, SQL, and IT practices
  • Effective communicator capable of conducting knowledge transfer with live/video training sessions
  • Proficient with a range of general and specialized applications, software, and hardware used in the organization
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects, MS-SQL, Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Access, Excel, etc.)
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adept at queries, report writing, and presenting findings
  • Resilience and ability to persevere in difficult situations, overcome obstacles, and reach high levels of performance under stress and time pressures
