This is the place for you In your role as a therapist at SCAN, you will meet families in their time of greatest need and guide their efforts to achieving safety and stability.

Essential Functions

This position is responsible for ensuring effective family outcomes, in compliance with accreditation standards, court orders, as well as the Department of Child Services service standards.To provide structured, goal-oriented and time limited clinical services in the natural environment identified for families (in home, community or in office). This position requires training and certification in the following evidenced-based practices: Family Centered Treatment, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Nurturing Parenting, Parent Coordination, Domestic Violence Services, Motivational Interviewing, and best practices in reunification of children/families.

  • Provide a variety of therapeutic services to children/families, including but limited to, the following: crisis intervention, intake/family assessment, safety planning, treatment planning, providing activities/interventions to assist children/families in goal completion and aftercare planning to support children/families with reaching self-sufficiency.
  • Ability to partner and collaborate with referrals sources (courts, DCS, Probation), foster parents, guardian ad litem, and/or CASA Volunteers to support the goals of the family.
  • Implement effective tracking and monitoring systems to ensure quality outcomes for all children/families served on caseload.
  • Provide thorough documentation, including but not limited to the following: assessments, clinical recommendations, progress notes, treatment planning, monthly reports all submitted within required deadlines.
  • Effective implementation of all evidenced-based models utilized with children/families.
  • To actively participate in building a strong peer supervisory team with fellow team mates to develop a high performing team for the regional office that you are assigned.
  • Actively participate in supervisory expectations: including, but not limited to, the following: individual supervisions, team meetings, and staff trainings with the desire for professional growth.
  • Travel is required. The assigned region (DCS Region 3) includes Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall, and St Joseph Counties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands/Expected Hours of Work

  • Requires flexibility in schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends based on the caseload need.
  • Ability to work under stress and manage volatile situations.
  • Involves lifting files, opening filing cabinets, and occasional bending or stooping.
  • May need to lift office supplies, materials, or equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires driving and access to reliable transportation.
  • Some flexibility in hours permitted; employee must maintain full-time status with 40 hours per week.


Required Education

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related human service field.
  • License Eligible in the state of Indiana: LMHC, LMFT, LCSW or on a licensure track upon graduation with appropriate degree.


Preferred Education

  • Possess Clinical Licensure in the State of Indiana: LMHC, LMFT, or LCSW
