Role Overview
The Senior Cloud Operations Engineer’s primary responsibility is to provide the technical leadership and effective provisioning, configuring, operation, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure while embodying the Patch Values. This person will participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This position is a leader in the technology realm and works closely with architects and developers to design and implement enterprise solutions.
Responsibilities
Infuse the Patch Values into your work ethic, every day and every interaction
Provide leadership and vision for continuous improvement to all technology teams
Deploy, automate, maintain, and manage AWS cloud-based production system
Ensure the availability, performance, scalability, and security of production systems
Develop, enhance, and deploy monitoring solutions and assist in evaluating infrastructure improvements for long-term growth and cost efficiency
Design, build, and maintain CI/CD infrastructure
Support build, release, and manage configuration of production systems
Drive ongoing improvements and efficiencies in operational practices, tools, and processes
Support enterprise web and mobile applications
Provide emergency after-hours on-call support
Assess needs and design new projects and incorporate them into the overall environment
Work closely with the security team to ensure standards are met and vulnerabilities are addressed

Qualifications
BS Computer Science, BS MIS or equivalent experience
Linux and/or Windows Server – 5 years of experience
AWS or other public cloud provider - 4 years of experience
Iterative software development – 2 years of experience
Strong proficiency in one or more scripting languages (bash, Python)
Experience using automation for building deployment scripts, setting up subnets, VPCs, DBs, and deploying Docker containers
Experience installing and configuring Kubernetes (KOPS, GKE, or EKS)
Terraform or cloud formation infrastructure-as-code experience to build infrastructure, platforms, and environments as code
CI/CD methodologies, workflows, configuration management, and tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, GitLab, Docker, and Kubernetes
Familiarity with log aggregation tools such as Splunk and Sumo Logic
Understanding of network topologies and common network protocols and services (DNS, HTTP(S), SSH, FTP, SMTP)
Working Knowledge of Rest API
Excellent cross-functional collaborative skills working with multiple development teams and ability to build relationships
Ability to influence development teams in adopting cloud technologies, processes, and best practices
Demonstrate ownership of solutions from conception through implementation and operation
Excellent oral and written communication skills
A proven ability to drive projects to completion
