Our client is a prominent general contractor in the Greater Chicago area, known for their excellence in managing and delivering large-scale heavy civil construction projects. Their portfolio includes diverse projects such as highways, bridges, excavation, site work, and utilities. They are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager to join their team and contribute to their ongoing success.
**Job Description:**
The client is looking for an experienced Project Manager to oversee and manage large heavy civil construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy civil construction and a proven track record with projects exceeding $20 million, including those involving the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Plan, direct, and coordinate heavy civil construction projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources efficiently.
- Coordinate and liaise with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental policies, and all relevant legal requirements.
- Prepare detailed project reports and present updates to senior management.
- Foster a collaborative team environment, promoting excellence and accountability.
**Qualifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience managing large heavy civil construction projects, preferably over $20 million.
- Extensive experience with INDOT projects is highly desirable.
- Strong background in heavy highway, bridge construction, excavation, sitework, and utility projects.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work well under pressure.
