Summary
Serving Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) since its establishment in 2015, the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Humanities Center exists to advance humanistic inquiry in northeast Ohio and to develop civic-minded leaders who have thought broadly and deeply about the human experience. The center proudly sponsors public events that address questions of history, literature, society and philosophy from a range of perspectives and from diverse points of view, as well as faculty research into topics of contemporary and perennial concern.
Particularly important to the center’s mission is the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Scholars Academy. This unique program enhances Tri-C students’ experience by cultivating their leadership skills through a curriculum grounded in the humanities and civic engagement. Students accepted to the Mandel Scholars Academy receive a scholarship covering in-county tuition at Tri-C and a book stipend for each semester. Students participate in unique opportunities including meeting with nationally and locally known leaders, transfer pathway programs such as the Mandel Continuing Scholars Program, and study away experiences.
The graduate assistant position will assist in various programming outlined in the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Continuing Scholars Program grant. This includes designing and implementing engaging programming that fosters community building for the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Continuing Scholars Program, the alumni of the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Scholars Academy, and other honors and scholars’ programs at Cuyahoga Community College.
Essential Functions
Create and implement innovative events focused on community building for the Mandel Continuing Scholars Program
Collaborate with the Mandel Scholars Academy staff to design and implement student/alumni engagement programming
Attend and assist at events, such as, programming for Mandel Scholars and Mandel Scholars Alumni
Design and distribute surveys and questionnaires for the Mandel Scholars Academy related to alumni engagement
Collect, manage and analyze quantitative and qualitative data for program assessment
Establish and maintain the Mandel Scholars Academy Alumni Network by creating and managing the contact list of graduates from the Mandel Scholars Academy
Schedule and facilitate meetings with the Mandel Student Alumni Committee
Assist the Mandel Humanities Center staff in additional projects throughout the academic year
Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
Bachelor’s Degree
Must be pursuing graduate degree
