The purpose of Concordia College is to influence the affairs of the world by sending thoughtful and informed men and women dedicated to the Christian life. Concordia is a small, private liberal arts college in Moorhead, MN, serving 1,850 primarily undergraduate students ages 18-22. The VISTA position will focus on increasing low-income and underrepresented students’ access to health, wellness, and basic needs resources on campus and in the community by improving ways to identify low-income and underrepresented students’ unmet, basic needs, expanding campus awareness, providing education, and analyzing current resources and systems for effectiveness. This project is part of the Community Corps VISTA Program, operated by Seed Coalition (formerly Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact). The program strives to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing capacity building support in higher education and nonprofit organizations. ***Please also send cover letter and resume to supervisor. Member Duties : The VISTA duties will center around access to health, wellness, and basic needs, and assist with analyzing and expanding current basic needs support systems. They will connect the on campus Cobber Food Pantry to local food recovery program efforts to enhance the availability of fresh, healthy options, while expanding the volunteer network. They will prepare and lead educational programs, for users of the program, and the campus community. They will analyze the current emergency financial assistance program and implement changes to ensure effectiveness for students in need. They will develop an assessment tool to identify unmet basic needs of students. They will research community support options and assist students in accessing these resources. They will also identify gaps in campus and community resources.
