Behavioral Health is seeking a Community Engagement and Partnership Manager to work with parents, residents and communities impacted by the programs and services offered by Hennepin County. This position will work across county systems and lead partnership development with external partners, with an emphasis on expanding a service continuum that includes culturally specific program offerings. This role will define and coordinate strategic efforts that increase resident connections with program services and bring resident voice into program and policy decisions.

Location and hours:

This position is hybrid will be performed both on-site at various Hennepin County locations and remote as job duties require. Work hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with some potential after hours meetings as necessary. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

In This Position, You Will

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in the practices of integrating resident and community feedback into service models and policy to enhance outcomes for residents and people served by Behavioral Health.
  • Define and evaluate engagement strategies designed to expand resident access and connections across all Behavioral Health services. Responsibilities include identifying key messaging, implementation of an annual calendar of community engagement work, and supervision of employees and interns.
  • Chair or contribute to the management of department committees and task forces.
  • Represent Behavioral Health department at external community meetings related to key program initiatives and serve on related committees within and outside the county.
  • Steward area-wide Racial Equity practices through staff trainings and area lead for the Racial Equity Impact Tool (REIT).

Need to have:

  • One of the following:
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in social work, business administration, public administration or other field appropriate to the position and five or more years of experience in the planning and administration of community engagement programs
    • Nine or more years of experience in the planning and administration of community engagement programs
Nice to have:

  • Experience:
    • Working with community members, providers and networks
    • Facilitating groups and guiding them to create new processes
    • Leading or participating in community engagement efforts

  • Knowledge of:
  • Principles and practices of community engagement
  • Principles of organizational development, planning and program evaluation/performance management
  • Ability to:
  • Develop a project work plan, implement the strategies within the project work plan, and monitor and update strategies to accommodate changing priorities
  • Work independently and drive the work, but also show the ability to work with a team atmosphere
