Job Description

The SBS Clinician at Children’s Crisis Treatment Center (CCTC) will be responsible for completing intake assessments and providing individual and family psychotherapy to children presenting with crisis and behavioral health issues. Services will be provided in a school-based setting.

Summary of Essential Functions:

  • Perform intake assessments and follow through with implementing recommendations and/or referrals.
  • Provide individual therapy and family therapy and provide clinical case management services to clients on an as needed basis.
  • Provide clinical care coordination which can include individual advocacy, referral to other services programs, and referral to other supports, services, and resources.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and in a timely fashion. For intake assessments, ensure that appropriate documents and signatures are obtained. For active therapy cases, develop/revise treatment plans appropriately and ensure clients’ records are kept up to date, for example, ensure that all required paperwork is present within clients’ charts and that treatment plans and consent forms are signed by the appropriate parties by the due dates.
  • Develop discharge plans for clients in collaboration with their parents/caregivers and assist parents/caregivers with the implementation, when appropriate.
  • Provide community-based interventions for clients including, but not limited to, assisting teachers in understanding and managing a child’s symptoms, participating in inter-agency meetings with clients’ other service providers.
  • Assist in providing crisis intervention services to groups of children after a traumatic event has occurred within their school and/or community, as requested
  • Maintain a positive, professional and collaborative relationship and partnership with children, families and school community.
  • Participate in individual and/or group supervision with SBS Division Director.
  • Participate in all meetings and interdepartmental meetings, as needed.
  • Participate in internal as well as external trainings ensuring completion of CCTC’s mandatory trainings, as well as, trainings required for continued licensure, as appropriate.
  • Complete all mandatory CCTC staff trainings in a timely manner.
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned by Division Director.

Requirements: Doctoral degree in psychology or Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field; licensed to practice in the state of NJ or working to meet NJ licensure requirements. A person with a New Jersey Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) is eligible to apply. A person with a clinical license (LPC, LCSW) in any State and has applied for a New Jersey Reciprocity License is also eligible to apply. A minimum of one year experience in providing mental health services to children and families; ability and willingness to provide both clinic-based and community-based interventions and experience and interest in working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team setting. The ability to work effectively with diverse cultures including those CCTC serves, staff, other provider agencies, payers and regulatory agencies. This individual will have strong organizational and leadership skills that serve to support CCTC’s mission and vision. Covid-19 vaccination required.
