You will have the opportunity to take a very hands-on role in a commercially minded team that sits within the Octopus Real Estate (ORE) division of our business, this is an area that is fast moving and has ambitious growth plans. By investing in developments that include retirement villages, care homes and affordable housing you will play a part in investments that are making a positive impact on the communities around us.


This role will offer a lot of variety and longer-term development and growth opportunities through gaining an understanding of the ORE business and sectors and being involved in various efficiency projects, including automating processes. People are at the heart of everything we do at Octopus and in this role you will be able to collaborate with and gain knowledge from a variety of stakeholders from across the business.


The team:


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant to join the Octopus Funds Finance team, within the Octopus Real Estate division.


The Financial Accountant will report directly to the ORE Senior Finance Manager and sits within the ORE fund reporting and control team which is made up of 10 people and is responsible for the financial management and reporting within our Group function. You will also be part of a wider Finance function that is a diverse team of c.50 that operates across various business areas and specialisms.


What will you be doing?


  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the property lending business.
  • Preparation and review of management accounts to a high standard, on a timely basis to meet strict deadlines.
  • Overseeing FCA Regulatory Reporting
  • Overseeing MI requests from across the business
  • Quarterly Investor Reporting on the CREDF funds, Investor Queries and other work relating to the Commercial loan book (with oversight from Fund Accountant)
  • Liaise with the auditors and tax advisors as required to ensure audits are accurately and effectively delivered and that all tax regulations are complied with.
  • Identify potential efficiencies in the ORE accounting and reporting process and work with the Senior Finance Manager to implement these where appropriate.
  • Support the Team on transactions and strategic projects as required, including fundraising, raising new debt, optimisation of fund structures and set up / close down of funds.


Qualifications


Ideally, you’ll have:

✅ Qualified accountant (ACA / CIMA / ACCA or equivalent) with strong technical experience.

✅ Exceptional attention to detail and able to deliver accuracy in a high-pressure environment.

✅ Agile and decisive with the ability to solve problems and give opinions based on knowledge and experience.

✅ Stakeholder management is critical to this role along with the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels both internally and externally.
