We require ambitious candidates who will provide excellence in helping develop and deliver research and trials for this rapidly changing and important service. We are keen to appoint a clinical reseatch fellow in Clinical Oncology to join our team of 23 Clinical Oncologists and 3 Medical Oncologists at the UHCW NHS Trust, ie the Arden Cancer Centre, serving Coventry and the adjoining Cancer Units at South Warwickshire Foundation Trust (SWFT), George Eliot Hospital (GEH), Stratford Rigby Unit and Rugby Maple Unit.
This post offers an opportunity to do research with Dr Raj Shrimali, Consultant Clinical Oncologist at University Hospital, Coventry and Honorary Associate Clinical Professor, University of Warwick, and the lung oncology team. The successful candidate will be trained in contemporary radiotherapy techniques for lung cancer and clinical research techniques relevant to the ongoing projects. A keen interest in research and having completed FRCR part-1 are required. The post would ideally be suited to a doctor already in a Clinical Oncology SpR rotation seeking to complete a period of dedicated research.
Duties And Responsibilities
This is an exciting opportunity to join our multi-disciplinary Lung oncology Team at the UHCW Coventry, and support development and delivery of research. In additional to the oncology workforce, they will be expected, when necessary, to interact with health professionals in other departments around the hospital and the wider members of the multidisciplinary team as well as R & D team. Furthermore, the post holder will be required to undertake administrative duties directly associated with the care of patients in trials and with research delivery.
This is a fixed term post for up to 23 months. The post holder will predominantly work Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00 (40 hours / 10 Programmed Activities). The base job plan is for 10 sessions per week (1.0 FTE), and both less than full time (LTFT) and flexible working could be considered. There are no on-call commitments or supplements with this role.
Subject to assessment and satisfactory performance, a suitable candidate would have the opportunity to register with the University of Warwick, so that they can work towards an MD.
