Description

CEPTON (Nasdaq: CPTN), a leading intelligent lidar solution provider, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Software Validation Engineer to join our production quality assurance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software quality assurance, particularly in embedded systems and firmware for LiDAR or similar technologies. This role involves working closely with our firmware developers, systems engineers, and product managers to ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable firmware that meets our rigorous standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive test plans and test cases for LiDAR firmware to ensure functionality, performance, and reliability.
  • Perform manual and automated testing of firmware, including unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and regression testing.
  • Collaborate with the firmware development team to identify, document, and track defects and issues, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks and scripts to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to ensure adherence to quality standards and best practices.
  • Monitor and analyze test results, providing detailed reports on the quality and performance of the firmware. Document all success and failures and provide prompt feedback to firmware development team.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to define and establish quality metrics and benchmarks.
  • Participate as a member of the agile development team, stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in testing methodologies, tools, and technologies relevant to LiDAR and embedded systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C , Python, or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience with development and managing test plan and test cases
  • Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for actions and decisions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail with a clear sense of distinguishing quality (good vs. bad) and providing justifications.
  • Proven capability to rapidly acquire new knowledge and skills.
  • Strong self-initiative and drive to achieve goals and complete tasks without requiring constant supervision.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in software quality assurance, with a focus on embedded systems and firmware.
  • Experience with LiDAR technology or similar sensor systems is highly desirable.
  • Experience using a test automation framework or test automation tool
  • Experience in automotive or robotics industries.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations relevant to LiDAR systems

Locations:

  • Cepton Headquarters – San Jose, CA.
  • Some local on-site visits to key customers.
  • Travel to regional customer sites and to support trade shows & conferences if needed.

Cepton Is Committed To Fair And Equitable Compensation Practices.

The pay range for this role is $80,000–$140,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.

The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
