Job Description

Position Purpose: Works with team members engaged in sorting semen and in the IVF lab by performing the following duties:

Key Responsibilities

  • Operates semen sexing machines, including daily set-up and calibration.
  • Assist supervisor with Reverse Sorts, including quality control tracking for all sorts.
  • Assists with media preparation and material sterilization.
  • Evaluation of fresh ejaculates for sorting in the second shift (motility and concentration).
  • Assists with loading semen and embryos out for shipping, inventorying incoming semen and pulling semen needed for all fertilizations.
  • Assists with maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Cross train in the IVF lab and assist when available with duties including fertilization, stripping, embryo grading, and embryo freezing.
  • Continually seeks to improve overall lab efficiency and personal performance.
  • Keeps records and compiles reports.
  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as determined by Trans Ova Genetics.
  • Maintains cleanliness and disinfection of all lab areas.
  • Communicates openly and honestly with fellow team members and supervisor.
  • Follows Trans Ova’s policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a professional image reflective of Trans Ova’s industry position.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education Requirements

  • 4 year Animal Science, Biology, Chemistry or other Life Sciences degree preferred.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a freezing environment (40 °F) for short periods of time (up to 30 minutes).
  • Indoor lab environment.
