RESEARCH TECHNICIAN I, Orthopaedic Surgery

Exceptional opportunity for medical students with an interest in Orthopaedic Surgery

WORK PERFORMED

  • Assist with research with the Total Joint Learning Health Unit working with leaders in the field: Michael P. Bolognesi, MD; Steven Z. George, PT, PhD; Maggie Horn, DPT, MPH, PhD; and Sean P. Ryan, MD
  • Focus on outcomes for hip, knee, and shoulder arthroplasty
  • Participate in research with Division members of Adult Reconstruction, chart reviews, statistical analysis, and manuscript preparation
  • Contribute to published articles, interact with interdisciplinary orthopaedic professionals, and if a medical student, scrub into the OR
  • Working with the Duke Value Based Care Committee, assist with research focused on costs and utilization of resources for arthroplasty to help develop novel payment programs
  • Research using administrative databases to help drive decision making for clinical care in the Division of Adult Reconstruction and also in relation to future bundled programs with CMS and private payers
  • Collaboration on research with the LHU AI Fellow (Irene Tanner) on image based projects

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Work requires an Associate's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other science related scientific field.
