JOB LOCATION

This is a hybrid position, consisting of 60% on site work based at the Hospital Medicine Program Administrative Office in Durham, NC (close to Duke University Hospital) and 40% remote work. Duties require working across multiple sites including Duke University Hospital, Duke Regional Hospital, and Duke Raleigh Hospital. Occasional travel will be expected to attend Career Fairs and Professional Conferences. You must live in the Durham, NC region. This is NOT a REMOTE job.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

Responsible for recruitment activities and processes for DUHS Hospital Medicine Programs, including strategy development for physician and APPs in various specialties including hospital medicine, internal medicine, family medicine, and podiatry. Activities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage all provider recruitment activities and processes for the Hospitalist Program as it relates to screening, sourcing, and interviewing candidates.
  • Oversee the coordination of itineraries for candidates to include flight, hotel, and transportation accommodations. Facilitate interviews with Medical Directors and other key stakeholders within the Hospitalist Program.
  • Maintain Hospitalist Program applicant-tracking database and ensure all applicants navigate through the system per protocol.
  • Draft and manage all aspects of recruitment print and web based advertisements.
  • Negotiate terms and sign agreements for external sourcing.
  • Develop and purchase recruitment promotional materials for recruitment fairs, direct mail, etc.
  • Negotiate terms of employment agreements including sign-on bonuses, relocation, etc.
  • Track candidates in DUHS master applicant tracking system per protocol from the interview process through onboarding.
  • Develop, manage and oversee recruitment budgets across entities and programs.
  • Screen and manage the selection process of at least 175 hospitalist providers annually, leading to the hiring of more than 25 new recruits per year.
  • Provide direction for physician/provider recruitment activities and serve as primary information source regarding staffing trends in the hospital medicine industry both locally and nationally.
  • Determine fiscal recruitment requirements, make projections and prepare the budget based data analysis obtained.
  • Maintain working liaison relationship with all levels of DUHS Hospital Medicine, and other DUHS entities to facilitate recruitment needs and provide directives on how to resolve staffing challenges.
  • Research and select vendors for recruitment related needs including candidate tracking software, marketing material development, recruitment venues and vendors, etc.
  • Attend various recruitment fairs, venues and industry trade shows to represent DUHS HMPs for recruitment purposes.
  • Effectively manage the position management and LMC process for all supported programs, submitting requests in a timely manner to ensure appropriate FTE count and position management.
  • Develop and regularly report out on return on investment metrics related to recruitment, retention and turnover.
  • Closely collaborate with physician integration coordinator, HR generalist and DUHS Talent Acquisition Consultant to ensure smooth process from recruitment stage through the point of onboarding/program integration.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain clear and consistent measures and tracking/reporting mechanisms for turnover and retention.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Job Eligibility Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred (Business, Human Resources or otther relevant field of study)

Certification

  • CPRP through AAPPR preferred

Experience

  • 4 years healthcare recruitment experience, preferably in a health system or hospital or large practice setting
  • 1 year physician/provider recruitment experience in a health system, hospital or large physician practice setting is preferred.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION and EXPERIENCE

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be willing and able to travel across sites and work from different rotating work locations. Access to reliable transportation is required.
  • Knowledge of the different policies, practices, and processes across the different DUHS hospitals is preferred. Ability to efficiently function in an environment with differing processes, policies, and procedures and differentiate and adapt when institutional practices and processes are inconsistent across sites.
  • Experience developing and maintaining reports and metrics related to recruitment and retention. Experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting on recruitment and retention and developing action plans based on trends and findings.
  • Knowledge of and experience with recruitment marketing and promotional materials, as well as recruitment venues and forums.
  • Experience with a variety of data processing software and relational database systems for data retrieval, analysis and reporting. Intermediate to advanced skills with MS Word, Excel and Power Point and Access. Experience with API and I-forms preferred.
  • Experience in writing business correspondence, reports, and procedures. Demonstrated ability to read, analyze, and interpret legal agreements/contracts, policies, financial reports, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations and to incorporate these into written documents as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal, as well as written and verbal communication skills to interact with a variety of personalities at all levels of the organization to include use of grammatically correct English.
  • Familiarity with HR practices and processes including understanding of Family Medical Leave and other types of Leaves of Absence. Experience with Duke Accounting and payroll systems preferred.

Job Hours

Full-Time salaried position, 40 hours per week - daily work schedule is somewhat flexible as long as work demands are met.
