Cadence, Inc. is seeking a talented and engaged Director of Operations to lead the Cranberry, PA facility. This position has primary responsibility for overseeing daily site operations to final assemble and pack medical device products on schedule while achieving all quality standards and cost objectives.

  • This is a key leadership position for the site: This role will lead an ISO 13485:2016 certified, FDA registered, 42K square feet site of approximately 60 total employees including approximately 35 manufacturing associates. This role will be a hands-on, working manager with 2 direct manager level reports, 2 manufacturing engineers and include the site’s production and supply chain employees. This role will also have indirect responsibility for the NPI Manager and Quality manager. In addition, the selected individual will provide leadership to project resources which may include project managers, engineers and technicians. Leadership responsibilities include providing daily guidance, feedback, coaching and mentorship to achieve success. The leadership responsibilities may grow as the organization grows.

The Director of Operations is responsible for:

Leading Facility Operations:

  • Ultimately responsible for the site’s safe work practices and environment.
  • Champion and sets the example for living Cadence’s core values.
  • Actively involved in all aspects of the business and senior management including budget, financial responsibility, and strategic planning for operations.
  • Collaborates with Sales and Pre-Production (site PP lead is a matrix report) to achieve successful transfer of new products to manufacturing; implements plans to meet new product launch delivery requirements.
  • Develops and maintains manufacturing operations business plans to include all program requirements, labor hours, production costs, backlogs, quality, and other related manufacturing statistics.
  • Develop and manage department operating budgets to approved targets; analyzes variances and takes corrective actions.
  • Uses Cadence Business System tools to plan, monitor and direct activities to drive performance improvements in all areas of Operations including Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Works with the VP Operations to develop annual site budget, capex plan, and CI/KPI objectives.
  • Leads the development of an Annual Line of Sight plan in support of the Company’s Key Priorities. Tracks metrics to accurately measure progress towards objectives.
  • Interfaces directly with customers and regulatory personnel during plant audits and inspections.
  • Oversees validation of facilities, equipment, and processes to ensure continued state of compliance. Schedules and manages routine revalidation activities and change control.
  • Provides leadership and direction for Production, Sustaining Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and the Customer Service teams.
  • Implements Cadence “best practices” in all relevant areas of the business in collaboration with the VP Operations.

Coach and Mentor Team:

  • Responsible for the hiring, development, and coaching of employees to ensure the proper level of performance of all manufacturing personnel.
  • Advises managers, supervisors, and leads on labor issues including safety, security, employee relations, scheduling, training, grievances, etc. Ensures supervises and leads are upholding company values and administering policies and practices in fair and equitable manner.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities for this Position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, Engineering, or Operations Management discipline or relevant experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with progressive and multi-discipline experience leading to a management position.
  • Experience in a highly regulated environment with finished medical device focus required.
  • A demonstrated record of working effectively with Quality Systems, ERP/Production Planning, Finance, Engineering and R&D.
  • Education/experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Project Management, Quality
  • Thorough understanding of operational and standard cost accounting around financial aspects of manufacturing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness/Ability to work primarily onsite.

Physical Demands: Candidates should be able to function in both office and manufacturing environments of a multi-location corporation. The majority of time will be spent in the office environment. Occasional travel may be required. Must be able to tolerate sitting and working with a computer for extended periods of time. Fine motor skills are utilized when typing and using various office machines. Requires clear verbal communication, hearing ability and clear vision or reasonable alternative. Must be able to move throughout our facility safely and effectively and interact with employees. Willingness to work additional hours during the week and/or weekend, if required.
