Cost Estimator

Position Summary

Responsible for calculating in-house costs with a focus toward machined and/or fabricated parts as well as calculating costs for products made with Elmet’s sheet production capability. This role will lead organizing and developing product costs required by the sales, planning, and production organizations in Euclid to maintain existing business and support overall growth for these product lines.

PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES/DUTIES

• Analyze project blueprints, GDT required
• Obtain material pricing and organize costs necessary to create a new product cost to be used by the Sales department for quoting business
• Use company approved formulas to calculate the projected cost of proposed projects, and manage within ERP system
• Determine the tooling & fixturing needed to produce the parts per customer drawings
• Collaborate with customers, Engineering, QC, field sales and new product development to thoroughly understand the customer requirements for requested quotations new and current business
• Work with Purchasing to evaluate suppliers and obtain quotes for third party services and materials
• Stay updated on market trends and raw material pricing fluctuations to ensure competitiveness and profitability
  
  

Qualifications

• Machining experience required
• Blueprint Reading/GDT experience required
• Costing experience required
• Computer skills required: working knowledge of MS Office, and Excel. AutoCAD and SolidWorks preferred
• Additional requirements include good communication skills, both verbal and written and in presentation form, a safe work history, and strong work ethics
• This position requires mental stability, ability to handle stress, get along with and work well with others, ability to work independently, regular, and predictable attendance, ability to stay awake, ability to work full-time and overtime
