A Co-response, Program Manager is needed to help us in our endeavor to build the healthiest community in the nation … one person at a time.

This position will be based at the new and innovative acute care behavioral health facility, which opened in late 2023.  SummitStone has the privilege of partnering closely with Larimer County on this venture.  This voter-approved facility provides licensed, equitable and culturally relevant care and treatment to individuals in crisis with mental health and/or substance use disorders.  For more information click HERE .

What You’ll Do

SummitStone (SHP) has an exciting opportunity to serve as a manager of a fast paced, growing, and cross-system Co-Response team. The Program Manager for Co-Response will work as a member of the acute services multi-disciplinary leadership team to provide clinical, administrative, and operational oversight to designated programs/facilities to meet the behavioral health needs of our clients or consumers. Co-Response, a coordinated program to pair behavioral health staff with law enforcement officers responding to behavioral health crises in the community, exists to ensure the safe and therapeutic engagement of persons with behavioral health conditions encountered by law enforcement and to ensure diversion from the criminal legal system wherever possible. The work you do with our Co-Response team will directly improve health outcomes by providing critical behavioral health services alongside law enforcement officers to our community.

The Co-Response Program Manager ensures that clinical programming is adhering to licensing guidelines, applicable rules and regulations, and that treatment rendered is ethical and applicable to the needs of the population. This position may oversee the implementation of new clinical projects, service lines, and/or partnerships across the County. The Program Manager joins a talented and creative acute leadership team working collaboratively to ensure that service lines are operating effectively, identifies opportunities for administrative efficiencies, and works to streamline clinical workflows to maximize capacity. The position will provide supervision to a combination of program supervisors, team leads, and/or assigned mental health and substance use disorder treatment staff. This role provides leadership across programs and helps to prepare our teams for new and emerging treatments and/or service array changes. The position performs direct client care for clients in behavioral health crisis.

Essential Duties

  • Manages a comprehensive team of Co-Responders, case managers and peer specialists embedded in multiple law enforcement and emergency response partnerships across Larimer County.
  • Serves as a resource person to program staff, including case manager, clinicians, team leads, and supervisors.
  • Understands law enforcement culture.
  • Facilitates cross-training between the law enforcement and behavioral health disciplines to achieve culture change and alignment.
  • Recruits and build an effective team. Continually rewards and recognizes staff and develops staff. Develops and fosters team values with staff.
  • Assists to drive policy and procedure changes when necessary for program improvement.
  • Contributes to the overall management of the agency through the development of policy and procedures.
  • Ensures accurate records and reporting for all grants/contracts assigned.
  • Gathers data and prepares a variety of reports to assist with evaluating services, determining capacity, or measuring program outcomes.
  • Assist in outcome monitoring and program or process improvement.
  • Maintains close and cooperative relationships with community agencies and other public agencies in carrying out the mission of the organization.
  • Collaborate with staff and peers to improve processes and procedures.
  • Evaluate staff performance for all direct reports; addresses performance issues, resolves conduct and ethical issues; carries out disciplinary action when needed. Provides technical assistance, training and coaching in clinical and administrative areas.
  • Conduct performance reviews for all direct reports.
  • Participates on committees (both internal and external), in meetings, and works on projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • May assist with accreditation compliance.
  • May assist with policy and procedure writing, report writing, & records review.
  • My conduct outreach activities or spearhead prevention education to community
  • May participate in projects and committees as requested.
  • May be called upon to occasionally make formal presentations or public speaking engagements as representation for SHP.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to provide treatment and case management in routine and crisis situations.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret related professional periodicals, journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills.
  • Able to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Time management.
  • Supervisory and management skills.
  • Knowledge of psychopathology, substance use disorder treatment and methods of therapy/treatment.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations regarding delivery and documentation of behavioral health services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3-5 years minimum relevant experience in the Mental Health Field, Substance Use Disorder Field or program of application in a leadership role; 3-5 years minimum experience in a supervisory role (administrative or clinical); experience with mild to severe mental illness and substance use disorders.
  • Experience in program development and managing clinical projects.

Education & Licensure

  • Masters (MA) Degree in counseling, psychology, social work or related field from accredited College or University
  • CAC III or LAC preferred
  • Colorado Clinical Mental Health License (LCSW,LPC,LMFT)
  • Valid Colorado drivers license
  • Driving record that meets with hiring requirements as set forth for someone that must transport clients/customers.

Total Rewards

The typical hiring range for this position is $83,491 - $100,196/hour or year, based on relevant years of experience.

Employees working at locations operating 24/7 earn a differential.  Shift differentials are also available for evenings, nights, weekend and holidays.
