Overview

Movement Strategy is seeking a brilliant Associate Creative Director, Copy to join our world-class creative team. You’ll report to the Group Creative Director and work closely with Creative Directors, Art Directors, Designers, Production, and various cross-functional departments.

We are looking for someone with social agency experience working on large brands, and experience being the creative lead on entertainment, lifestyle, and consumer-based clients. A social-centric conceptual thinker who can write manifestos, long form, and headlines. You should be able to work independently as well as collaboratively – owning a project without any handholding needed. Excellent client and presentation skills are expected. A one-two punch of confidence and inspiration. Someone who possesses a talent for transforming great ideas into award-winning creative and has a passion for visual storytelling. We are looking for a Creative leader who enjoys selling their ideas as much as they love crafting them.

KEY FOCUS AREAS

Creative Leadership: Demonstrating a proven track record, the Associate Creative Director, Copy provides mentorship and guidance to teams spanning junior, mid, and senior levels, including writers, art directors, designers, creative directors, production, and the content & engagement team. Proficient in writing diverse copy styles across a range of assignments, they bring a wealth of experience and leadership to the creative process.

Social-Centric Visionary: As a Social-Centric thinker, the Associate Creative Director, Copy spearheads innovative strategies, technologies, and big ideas that prioritize social media as the central element of brand marketing campaigns. They not only conceptualize but also collaborate on campaign ideas and digital tactics with the creative team, all while managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Creative Direction: Setting the creative direction for communications, the Associate Creative Director, Copy ensures a bold interpretation of brand guidelines, industry regulations, and market trends. They maintain a hands-on approach by conducting daily reviews with working teams to ensure the highest standards of execution. Moreover, they oversee the translation of the client’s vision into a roadmap that guides the agency, aiming not only to achieve client goals but also to generate work that is creatively brilliant, measurable, and culturally impactful. Crafting original concepts and executing copy based on established voice/tone, they collaborate with mid- and junior-level writers on copy execution.

Collaboration and Partnership: Collaborating seamlessly with agency teams, especially Strategy and Account Management teams, the Associate Creative Director, Copy gains a deep understanding of clients' brand strategies, target audiences, market nuances, competitive pressures, and marketing objectives. They translate these insights into effective creative strategies that drive engagement. Additionally, they work closely with the Group Creative Director to align on overarching creative vision and provide constructive input to elevate team output. Collaborating with Account Leads, Content & Engagement teams, and Designers, they ensure cohesive understanding, integration of compelling storytelling, and harmonization of visual and written elements.

Client Relationships: Acting as a primary contact for clients, the Associate Creative Director, Copy cultivates strong relationships and an in-depth understanding of their needs. Collaborating closely with Account Management teams, they bridge the gap between client expectations and creative deliverables. In important client meetings, they are a dynamic presence, ready to address challenges in real-time. Their ability to inspire clients and co-workers through good work, good spirit, and excellent communication is a cornerstone of their role.

Team Management: Viewed as a leader on the team and within the agency, the Associate Creative Director, Copy manages managers, helping reports overcome challenges and providing constructive feedback. They inspire a collaborative spirit, instill confidence in direct and skip-level reports of their abilities to exceed creative standards, and conduct performance evaluations. Anticipating team and client needs, project risks, and participating in driving resolution, they foster a collaborative and positive work environment.

Quality Control: Upholding uncompromising standards of creative excellence, the Associate Creative Director, Copy consistently assembles teams capable of navigating the production process to deliver error-free creative materials within agreed timelines.

Budget and Resource Management: In supporting the Head of Creative, the Associate Creative Director, Copy manages creative budgets, allocates resources, and improves productivity for assigned teams.

Business Development: Showcasing a track record of leadership in pitch processes, the Associate Creative Director, Copy demonstrates the ability to shape pitch narratives, develop impactful creative concepts, and deliver winning work within pitch timelines.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in as a copywriter, preferably in advertising or a social-centric related industry.
  • Experience in Entertainment and Streaming is a big plus
  • Outstanding portfolio showcasing digital and social platforms with strong conceptual thinking.
  • Solid understanding of creative development—from drafting briefs to executing deliverables.
  • Well-versed in scriptwriting and in crafting both short and long-form content.
  • Ability to direct and mentor junior team members.
  • Ability to handle a high-volume environment with rapid turnaround times and manage multiple tasks and project details.
  • Practiced time management skills and a strong work ethic.

Hourly Compensation

In compliance with local and state law, we are disclosing the compensation for roles that will be performed in New York City, Colorado, and California. The range listed is just one component of Movement Strategy’s total compensation package for employees. Individual compensation varies based on location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards.

A successful applicant’s actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, skill sets, years of relevant experience, qualifications, and certifications or other professional licenses held. Movement Strategy prides itself on providing competitive salaries and actively works to ensure there is pay equity across the company.

Pay Range: $100-120/HR
