We are seeking a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent with a strong background in trust and estate fiduciary tax return preparation as well as experience in preparing Form 1040s for high-net-worth individuals, Form 1065s for investment partnerships and Form 990-PFs to join our Private Client legal practice. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of fiduciary taxation, private foundation returns and individual taxation. The CPA/Enrolled Agent will work closely with attorneys, estate and trust administrators and clients to ensure accurate and timely compliance with all tax return preparation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare or review federal, state and local tax returns including fiduciary, individual, partnership and private foundation as well as quarterly estimates and extension calculations.
  • Sign all tax returns as the paid preparer.
  • E-file all qualified returns or provide client with complete returns to paper file.
  • Provide support for audits and respond to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities.
  • Work with clients and their advisors to request necessary checks for tax payments.
  • Maintain comprehensive list of tax returns to be prepared and the status of each return.
  • Work with the firm’s estate and trust administrators to complete tax returns.
  • Anticipate and actively respond to the needs of internal and external clients.
  • Remain current on relevant tax law developments and changes and updates the private client group on relevant changes.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent license required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in tax return preparation with a focus on trusts and estates.
  • Understanding of trust income and principal accounting rules.
  • Proficiency with CCH Axcess tax preparation program software.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws as they pertain to trusts, estates, individuals and private foundations.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-experts.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
