National Christian Foundation seeks to hire a Relationship Manager for its NCF Chicago office.

We expect another exciting year of growth as we fulfill our mission to serve and encourage our givers to grow as faithful stewards who give wisely. We are seeking a talented and experienced individual with a strong background in outside sales, relationship management, business development, marketing/channel development, financial planning, law or accounting who will join us in accomplishing this great task, primarily in service to the Greater Chicago Area. The ideal candidate will have a passion and calling for the work of NCF and advancing the Kingdom.

Position Overview

The Relationship Manager proactively initiates and nurtures new relationships with high and ultra-high-capacity givers (HCG/UHCG). This position will grow HCG/UHCG relationships, assets, contributions and grants. As well as walk alongside of givers and shepherd them as they grow in their spiritual journey of generosity. Support givers as they stretch their faith and endeavor to give more abundantly through cash and non-cash gifts using giving funds and other giving vehicles. Cultivate relationships that ultimately produce and lead to additional referrals and prospects.

The successful candidate will possess the following strengths, characteristics, and requirements while performing the following duties and responsibilities through personal implementation or by working through other local and national staff.

This position is hybrid based out of the office in Arlington Heights, IL, with 20% of in-office work and 70% of external meetings with givers, advisors, etc. Travel is primarily throughout the Chicago area.

Duties And Responsibilities

Giver Engagement (50%)

  • Proactively reach out to new and existing givers to build relationship, increase awareness, connect them into the larger community, and explore new ways to serve.
  • Influence and instill trust working with givers toward giving solutions and goals.
  • Motivate and inspire givers to develop a giving strategy for future generosity and succession planning.
  • Counsel and co-develop, in conjunction with givers, a giving plan that builds in accountability and progression on their giving journey.


Prospect Development (25%)

  • Proactively cultivate relationships with prospective givers.
  • Garner referrals from advisory board members, existing givers and professional advisors.
  • Network with community partners, ministries, organizations, and councils.


Channel Development (20%)

  • Develop strategic relationships with targeted (new and existing) advisors (financial planners, accountants and attorneys) and ministries.
  • Reach and influence organizations with a constituency that desires to increase their capacity for giving and kingdom impact.


Strategic Planning (5%)

  • Work with the NCF Chicago team to develop innovative approaches to help families unite multiple generations around the value and blessings of biblical generosity and determine strategic growth priorities for Chicago communities.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or certification preferred. (MBA, JD, CFA, CFP, CPA).


Experience

  • Minimum of three year’s experience in one or more of the following areas: business ownership, financial planning or wealth management, previous sales, relationship management, business development, marketing/channel development, or law required.
  • Previous experience serving high net worth individuals, families, and advisors preferred. Knows how to appropriately serve, interact, and communicate with high-net-worth givers.
  • Previous charitable giving, non-profit, or ministry experience preferred.
  • Strong local network in the Greater Chicago Area preferred.
  • Basic understanding of personal tax rules preferred.
  • Working knowledge of basic business financial reports preferred (e.g., P&L, Balance Sheet).
  • Knowledge of a CRM tool like Salesforce preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.


Knowledge Base

  • Working knowledge of charitable, non-profit, foundation, and/or donor related subject matters.
  • Proven aptitude for "real-time" problem diagnosis and solving.
  • Working knowledge of charitable, non-profit, foundation, and/or donor- related subject matters preferred.
  • Some marketing and social media experience a plus (working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Able to perform duties independently.
  • Knowledge of ShareFile, or other file sharing platform helpful.

Work Environment

  • 20% office; 70% external (meeting with givers, advisors, etc.). Travel primarily throughout the Chicago area.
  • 40 hours per week. Additional hours may be required during the peak work periods and projects. Minimal travel required.
  • Location: Office: Arlington Heights, IL. Ideal candidate will be located in the Chicago area. Open to consider down state and central Illinois (Champaign, Peoria, Decatur, Bloomington)
