Monmouth University is seeking applications for On-Call Radio Dispatchers in the University Police department.
The candidate would be expected to: receive incoming telephone or alarm system calls regarding emergency and non-emergency police and fire service, emergency ambulance service, information and after hours calls; determine response requirements and relative priorities of situations, and dispatch units in accordance with established procedures; relay information and messages to and from emergency sites, to law enforcement agencies, and to all other individuals or groups requiring notification.

Special Instructions to Applicants
Covered shifts include 15 minutes daily report in time.
Required Skills or Software Must be able to utilize a variety of computer software programs in order to successfully complete assigned tasks, Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, Must be able to treat confidential and sensitive information appropriately Required Years of Experience Required Degree, Licenses or Certifications Other Requirements
Ability to complete Dispatch Desk reports and other related reports. Must be reliable, able to monitor several radios and telephones concurrently, remain calm under pressure and be able to communicate effectively with students, employees and the general public. Willingness to work on University holidays and to work overtime when required.
Preferred Qualifications
Radio dispatch experience. Knowledge of MS office.

Question callers to determine their locations, and the nature of their problems in order to determine the type of response needed.
Regular or Occasional Regular Duty
Enter, update, and retrieve information from teletype networks and computerized data systems regarding such things as wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, and stolen vehicles.
Regular or Occasional Regular Duty
Relay information and messages to and from emergency sites, to law enforcement agencies, and to all other individuals or groups requiring notification.
Regular or Occasional Regular Duty
Receive incoming telephone or alarm system calls regarding emergency and non-emergency police and fire service, emergency ambulance service, information and after hours calls.
Regular or Occasional Regular Duty
Maintain access to, and security of, highly sensitive materials.
Regular or Occasional Regular Duty
Maintain files of information relating to emergency calls such as personnel rosters, and emergency call-out and pager files.
Regular or Occasional Regular Duty
Operate base radio for 2-way communications with Police and Facilities Management personnel.
Regular or Occasional Regular Duty
Monitor transmissions from Monmouth County Radio and scanners from adjacent Police Departments.
Regular or Occasional Regular Duty
Issue parking decals and other permits.

Record vehicle registration/information into the database.

Obtain "look ups" from county and state computer systems.
Regular or Occasional Regular Duty
Monitor the computerized 911, fire and security alarm systems.
