Summary

We are currently hiring for a Membership Services Supervisor to join BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. In this role as Membership Services Supervisor, you will assist in membership/enrollment, billing, and/or customer service aspects for assigned department(s). You will also be responsible for providing prompt, quality processing, enrollment, and administrative services for groups/agents, small groups, and/or policyholders.

Logistics

This position is (40 hours/week) Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30 flexible 2 days W@H and 3 days onsite at the GPC location.

What You Will Do

  • Supervises day-to-day activities for staff. Supervises staff to include approval of time, leave, performance reviews, etc. Responsible for recruiting and hiring, coaching and mentoring, monitoring and evaluation, and addressing all disciplinary issues in a timely manner. Encourage staff in creating and maintaining a work environment with high morale and employee satisfaction through support of professional development, training, career growth, and rewarding high performance.
  • Identifies training needs and verifies the accuracy and timeliness of workflow functions. Serves as liaison, coordinating with other departments as needed. Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and standards, and timely and accurate reporting to regulatory agencies for financial and compliance related transactions.
  • Performs quality control functions for work performed. Develops work plans to improve quality performance. Prepares/reviews weekly/monthly reports. Works with internal and external departments, customers, and agencies to resolve issues that may arise.
  • Participates in the planning, organizing, and implementation of new groups, renewing groups, and existing groups. Develops, maintains, and updates procedures. Coordinates special projects, system testing, system enhancements, group set-up maintenance, etc.

To Qualify For This Position, You Will Need

  • Required Education: Bachelor's OR 4 years job related work experience OR Associate's and 2 years job related work experience
  • Required Work Experience: 3 years-of experience in membership, billing, claims processing, accounting and/or customer service, or a combination of these areas. 1 of the 3 years must be in a team lead/leadership role OR equivalent military experience in grade E4 or above
  • Knowledge and proven ability in a membership or billing system.
  • Good judgment skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective customer service and organizational skills.
  • Ability to persuade, negotiate, or influence others.
  • Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information with discretion.
  • Basic business math proficiency.
  • Ability to lead and motivate employees.
  • Required Software and Other Tools: Microsoft Office.

What We Prefer

  • 1 year-of supervisory experience OR equivalent military experience in grade E4 or above.
  • Knowledge of performance standards and quality assurance guidelines.
  • Knowledge of underwriting guidelines, legislative law, benefit structures.
  • Knowledge of BCBSSC systems (membership and/or , enrollment).
