SCHOOLS: Lane Middle School, Kelly Elementary School, Reynolds Middle School

CLASSIFICATION: Temporary, Part- Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

COMPENSATION: $18 hourly, non-exempt, Part-time, up to 5 hours per week per location

MUST PASS BACKGROUND CHECK AND ATTEND SCHOOL SITE ORIENTATION

CANDIDATE PROFILE Latino Network seeks a bilingual, bi-cultural mission-driven professional with proven nonprofit and community experience to lead a full range of activities for a growing organization. As part of a dedicated team working toward a shared vision, the Food Pantry Worker is charged with supporting the Associate Director of SUN and the Food Pantry Coordinator.

POSITION DESCRIPTION This position will be responsible for day-to-day operations of SUN School Food Pantry at either Lane Middle School, Kelly Elementary School, or Reynolds Middle School. Tasks include: keeping the pantry clean and food up to date, help with set up and clean up during food distribution days, supporting food distributions once per week, and under the direction of the Associate Director of SUN Community Schools.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

  • Support with receiving OFB food orders and community donations.
  • Help with program needs as time permits.
  • Unload food order at the SUN School Food Pantries, organizing items in pantry space and stocking shelves as needed, ensuring food program inventory is adequate and all required standards are met.
  • Help with set up and clean up during the distribution days.
  • Distribute food to clients during weekly food distributions.
  • Follow all OFB standards for food storage and distribution.
  • Maintain a clean food storage area and equipment.
  • Defrost freezer, check equipment monthly, check freezer temperature and log results regularly. Assist with training and supervising volunteers at the food pantry.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals and groups. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with youth, parents and diverse communities and cultures and communicate effectively with those whose English language skills are limited.

Requirements

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate's degree with two (2) years relevant experience; preferably within the field of non-profit emergency assistance or pantry/food assistance programs preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to follow directions and have strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and ability to communicate professionally with clients, families, service providers, community members and co-workers .
  • Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and ability to translate/interpret orally in Spanish for families is preferred.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, Word, and Excel.
  • Team Player.

Additional Administrative And Physical Requirements

  • Regularly work in at the SUN Site School; Either Lane Middle School, Kelly Elementary School, or Reynolds Middle School and in the community as needed
  • Evening and weekend availability may be required, and work hours are flexible to accommodate program implementation.
  • Reliable transportation to the school site and for tasks needed for its programs.
