The Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for the daily sales efforts of the sales team and for the overall positioning of the hotel including rooms, dining outlets, and events. In addition, they are responsible for room rental revenue, yield strategy implementation, and meeting budget, forecast, and optimal business mix targets. Strategies will include pricing, direct sales, market mix, and marketing. Candidates must have a dynamic leadership style, possess excellent communication and decision-making skills, and have strong business acumen.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING & WORK EXPERIENCE
College degree preferred
Minimum five years of experience in hospitality sales and catering
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Supervisory and personnel management experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and sales-related computer programs
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for driving top-line revenue for traditional sales segments including group, volume transient, and catering.
Develop and implement a marketing plan designed to achieve the desired positioning of the hotel, as well as manage the sales & marketing budget that supports all initiatives.
Assess and react to the competitive hotel environment, market trends, and market share opportunities.
Understand and communicate market trends, demand generators, supply/demand, and economic factors affecting hotel performance.
Conduct comprehensive competitive set reviews, SWOT analysis, and keep tabs on new supply.
Coordinate and participate in direct sales activities including client solicitation, site inspections, blitzes, group promotions, client events, trade shows, and familiarization trips.
Develop sales goals designed to achieve budget and market share targets.
Manage group pace measurement.
Oversee marketing efforts for hotel and outlets including digital, social media, collateral, advertising, and public relations.
Assist, coach, train, motivate and counsel all sales managers and sales staff.
Prepare all monthly reports for OTH and owners on a timely and accurate basis.
Assist all Department Heads in establishing quality product standards and service levels that establish the property as a 4-star competitor.
Active group and Business Transient selling with responsibility for achieving sales goals.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Perform other related duties as requested by the General Manager.
