Job Summary/Introduction


Cubico Sustainable investments is growing the USA development team and looking to hire Development Managers to support the progression of our projects and further expand our portfolio of renewable energy projects under development in the USA (onshore wind, solar photovoltaic and storage).


As Development Manager you will have responsibility for advancing all aspects of development while working for an international long-term asset owner company with close collaboration to central support functions.


These positions will work from our Austin, Texas head office on a hybrid basis.

Responsibilities and duties will include:


  • Project managing all development stages for their development portfolio (from site identification & land securing to environmental studies to permitting to dealing with recourses and reaching financial close)
  • Building the portfolio by identifying new sites including greenfield opportunities and competitive processes including actively participating in M&A processes
  • Work efficiently and effectively to rapidly acquire all land and easements required for utility scale projects
  • Managing and delivering development programmes for project portfolio to ensure that budgets are met, timeframes are kept, and quality is optimised
  • Establish and maintain supportive relationships with both internal and external partners, ensuring that project specific procurement contracts are negotiated and secured
  • Lead and manage all aspects of project development from inception to construction hand-off
  • Maintain and proactively manage portfolio risk registers
  • Working with the internal and external engineering and technical teams to ensure the optimal solution (in terms of LCOE) is incorporated into all projects e.g. site layouts, technology choice, design requirements etc
  • Helping keep up to date financial models and reviewing all assumptions to ensure the project economics are robust
  • Developing, managing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Actively monitoring the market for new opportunities e.g. in other technologies or regions in the USA


Person specification:


The successful candidate will need to possess a proven track record of delivering renewable energy projects successfully in the USA:


Knowledge

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree
  • A good understanding of energy industry, with a particular focus on renewable energy, including resource assessments, site assessments and renewable energy and storage technology and their drivers.
  • In depth experience of the renewable energy project development process from inception to operation of a project, including: site selection; understanding of the site constraints; community and landowner engagement; permitting; and network connection activities.


Experience

  • Demonstrable professional experience in development of energy projects, with a particular focus on solar PV and wind projects
  • Proven track record of delivering projects successfully.
  • Deep knowledge of development processes.
  • Strong network of industry contacts from which to generate investment or development opportunities.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

  • Demonstrates a critical approach and is motivated, bright and personable
  • Proactive and pragmatic with a positive attitude and can-do approach
  • Enthusiastic and able to take ownership of problems and provide solutions
  • Experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project).
