Responsibilities

Societe Generale is making a significant investment in expanding its Equity Capital Markets team thru both the recently closed acquisition of an interest in Bernstein’s sales and trading and research division. The Equity Capital Markets team is a core business of SG’s Investment Banking and broader capital markets capabilities and is responsible for the origination and execution of equity capital markets transactions, including equity linked transactions, for our corporate and sponsor clients. The US ECM team is part of a fully integrated global ECM team and works closely with counterparts in Europe and Asia. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing global team with a large existing client base, at a bank with a renowned franchise.

  • You will be responsible for working with (i) Managing Directors to originate and develop new ECM client relationships which will result in equity capital markets transactions; (ii) Certain existing clients independently to both maintain the firm’s relationship and to provide them ECM advice broadly and on specific transaction; (iii) The broader ECM team, sales, trading and others in a lead role to execute ECM transaction for clients.
  • Preparation of ECM knowledge specific client presentation with fine attention to content and detail: You will have an opportunity to participate at the highest level of capital markets transactions with premier global clients: A high level of personal performance, interest and excellence are a fundamental requirement to succeed in this position.
  • Team leadership, senior oversight of detailed execution responsibilities for public and private equity capital markets transactions both domestically and in EMEA and Asia.
  • To know how to ensure execution of transactions in a complex regulatory environment in different geographic markets including preparation of marketing materials for equity sales, and coordinating the collection from equity sales of investor feedback on new issues
  • Lead and build strong relationships with colleagues in Europe and Asia, and among the U.S. banking coverage teams
  • Need for self-starting ability to work to identify potential IPO candidates in industry sectors covered by SG, as well as important new venture capital relationships, with the opportunity to build your own set of client relationships as you progress in your career.
  • Manage a junior team to keep detailed records of client interactions and tracking, execution timelines, and required client follow up.
  • Keep abreast of market developments and providing relevant market updates to the team. This includes following global equity capital markets; new issues, investor sentiment and equity fund flows



Profile Required

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in corporate financial analysis with ability to analyze balance sheets, income statement, and perform comparable analysis, with the ability to develop and teach a junior team of bankers regarding this knowledge.
  • Expertise in all necessary software programs (Excel, Powerpoint, Word)
  • Experience in working with Bloomberg data, and Factset, and ability to direct junior team to utilize these resources


Competencies:

  • Leadership abilities and prior experience developing a junior team
  • Strong presentation skills, both orally and in writing, confidence in abilities
  • Understanding of how to work in a team structure, and ability to provide oversight in a junior team
  • Capacity and desire to understand complex financial structures
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, pressure orientated environment and deliver under tight deadlines
  • Solid interest and understanding of financial markets


Experience Needed:

  • 7 years of experience
  • Existing VP or At least 3 years of prior relevant experience as a Vice President in a Top Tier ECM team


Educational Requirements:

  • Preference for MBA or a very competitive Bachelor's program and degrees in engineering, business, finance and/or accounting

COMPENSATION & SALARY RANGE:

Base salary range does not include overtime pay, bonus and/or other benefits, where applicable. Actual base salary offer will vary based on skills and experience.
