The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for evaluating requirements, making recommendations, and managing projects related to new or existing manufacturing equipment, tooling, and process controls. Their expertise will support manufacturing operations by evaluating labor utilization, working capital, automation requirements, and determining proper processes.
Responsibilities
Work with tool makers, maintenance workers, production workers, and supervisors to troubleshoot and resolve various tooling and manufacturing issues
Review new part prints and advise product engineering on design for manufacturability
Create cost comparisons and return on investment calculations to assist in supplier selection
Plan, justify, procure, and implement new equipment, tooling and fixture needs to support existing and anticipated production requirements.
Perform payback analysis and other justifications to support major investment projects
Improve and support new and existing operations, methods and processes for cost reduction, quality and efficiency improvements
Creates and maintains work standards for direct labor and machine cycle times used for manufacturing performance standards
Conducts studies in operations to maximize workflow and spatial utilization
Creates and maintains facility and process layouts using AutoCad
Participates in continuous improvement projects and cost reduction programs using lean manufacturing techniques
Performs capacity analysis and related studies used for short term and long-term manufacturing planning
Independently compiles data and analyzes results for project or team review
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or related field
5-10 years of experience in a fast paced, customer focused manufacturing environment
Experience working with assembly, production and/or resistance welding, stamping, metal and/or roll forming
Experience trouble shooting and resolving issues related to various manufacturing processes.
Process knowledge in stamping, welding, powder coat, material handling automation, robotics and wet and dry coating preferred
Knowledge of engineering and manufacturing practices and processes including Lean Manufacturing and techniques
Ability to coordinate and manage multi-functional projects through structured Project Management principles
Working knowledge of metal forming, machining, and welding
Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints to facilitate the supervision of fabrication and/or installation of equipment
Proficient in standard business-related computer software such as Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Auto CAD
Ability to quickly grasp and implement new ideas, concepts and programs to improve departmental efficiency
Strong problem-solving and verbal and written communication skills
