The Receptionist is responsible for answering, screening and transferring of telephone calls; scheduling, rescheduling and canceling of appointments; registering patients; answering patient questions; assisting with referral process and checking insurance eligibility. This position reports to the Front Desk Lead.
Duties and Responsibilities
Answer incoming calls and properly route calls via appropriate transfer, message taking, or follow-up and return call.
Efficiently and accurately schedule, reschedule and/or cancel dental appointments as requested by the patient.
Check insurance and verify eligibility information.
Collect payments from patients.
Collect, update and verify all pertinent patient demographic and insurance information.
Participate in patient education and health promotion activities.
Participate in quality assurance activities.
Attend and participate in training and meetings as required and assigned.
Provide quality customer service to patients and providers.
Resolves patient inquiries, complaints or concerns regarding their accounts or appointments.
Communicate with direct supervisor regularly on the status of operations, patient access, medical records, insurance coverage updates and any other related issues.
Complete other duties and related projects as assigned.
High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
Minimum of one year of experience in a dental or healthcare environment
Customer service experience and ability to provide a high level of customer assistance.
Fluent in verbal and written Spanish language highly desired.
Experience using electronic practice management systems, such as Epic is strongly preferred.
Computer skills including proficiency in data entry, internet use and Microsoft office applications.
Excellent verbal communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of information.
Ability to adjust to change and ask clarifying questions when necessary.
Ability to communicate well with people of diverse cultural, professional and experiential backgrounds.
Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
