Raw Materials Coordinator

Job Summary

Perform duties required to coordinate raw material and workflow in the Fabrication department.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive purchased raw material and unload from truck using overhead crane and/or tow motor
  • Verify quality and quantity of the shipment
  • Communicate errors to the quality assurance department and material buyer
  • Monitor and maintain inventory accuracy levels and take corrective action as necessary
  • Perform cycle counts of inventory on a regular basis
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies to identify the root cause of the error
  • Store raw material in racks and shelves using tow motor, overhead crane and by hand
  • Maintain the organization of material in the raw material area
  • Pick/put away items and raw materials from/to stock and coordinate delivery and movement around the shop floor
  • Perform data entry, completion transactions, move transactions, issues/receipts/adjustments etc. on the computer
  • Interact with production planners and vendors regarding material deliveries to the floor
  • Interface with purchasing and production departments concerning material availability and shop order quantities
  • Monitor housekeeping practices in work areas
  • Backfill other positions in raw material, stock room or other areas as required
  • Perform other duties, assignments, and/or projects as required

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Education: High School or equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years of experience is a material handling/stockroom/warehouse environment
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Operate Fork truck, slings, overhead crane
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills

EQUIPMENT USED

  • PC, Oracle ERP, E-mail and other job related software
  • Fork truck, Prime mover, other lifts and material movement devices/equipment
  • Overhead crane, Slings
  • Calipers, Micro-meters, other measurement tools

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Moderate to frequent exposure to shop environment; may be exposed to dust, odors, oils, fumes, chemicals, noise and moving parts. Work typically requires the usage of PPE and can require work on the facility’s production floor or customer’s production environment
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl and move about facility and/or customer’s facilities. Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds.
