JOB TITLE: Production Technician I

LOCATION: Bangor, MI

STARTING RATE: $31.25

Job Summary

Lead an assembly team to build custom underground mining vehicles while supporting the Getman Production System. Calibrate hydraulic systems and perform pre and post functional quality checks on a wide array of Getman vehicles and related components. Brainstorm and execute ideas to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles fabricated parts to relatively large or heavy subassemblies and complete units.
  • Ensures high quality by conforming to provided specifications and proper verification.
  • Calibrate hydraulic systems.
  • Assemble, rebuild, and repair quality Getman Core and prototype vehicles in the most productive and efficient manner.
  • This position may require working between Plants as needed to support the Getman Production System.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and diagnose any issues during and after truck builds.
  • Maintain work area utilizing the 5S methodology.
  • Task-oriented leader who takes responsibility for training their team of technicians.
  • Maintain inventory of tools and Kanban control system.
  • Effectively train team members while keeping pace with the Getman Production System.
  • Understand and adhere to weight limitations on cranes and lifting devices.
  • Collaborate with all departments to support company-wide goals and initiatives.
  • Ability to multi-task with flexibility and resourcefulness.
  • Know how to use basic and advanced tools to complete assembly projects in a timely manner.
  • Brainstorm time and cost savings initiatives.
  • Initiate process flow developments and standard operating procedures as needed.
  • Document and streamline hose lists and valve prints.
  • Help develop service procedures for field maintenance.
  • Ability to motivate and keep a positive attitude.
  • Interpret hydraulic and electrical options and how to apply them.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three to five years’ experience in automotive or heavy equipment production planning/assembly
  • Support leadership initiatives in a team-based environment
  • Electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical diagnosing experience
  • Strong project coordinating skills preferred

Skills, Talents and/or Characteristics

  • Understand torque specs and proper application
  • Demonstrate use of thread sealant/Loctite and what type per application
  • Demonstrate anti-seizing measures and proper application
  • Understand different fastener grades and proper application
  • Demonstrate basic and advanced tools usage
  • Possess vast knowledge of hydraulic fittings and how they seal
  • Identify hose series and hose ends and required crimping tools as well as crimped hose measurements
  • Read and understand hydraulic/electrical symbols and blueprints
  • Basic automotive electrical understanding
  • Knowledge of electrical tools, connectors, and terminals
  • Effectively use a multi-meter to diagnose 24-volt electrical systems
  • Sufficient knowledge of hydraulic valves to plumb properly
  • In depth knowledge of different bearing types and shimming techniques
