Service Description:

  • General Service Schedule M-F flexible hours between 8am and 5pm
  • Coordinate and collect crew documentation, including project accomplishments and reports; help communicate crew efforts to the public.
  • Participate in project planning sessions.
  • Prepare daily and weekly work plans based on the scope of work provided by managers.
  • Oversee and coordinate a crew of up to 4 other AmeriCorps members in trail building and remediation projects.
  • Train, oversee, and motivate volunteers during volunteer workdays.
  • Complete projects focused on visitor access enhancements, habitat restoration, invasive species removal, and infrastructure improvements. Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen,
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Ability to pass criminal background check.
  • Experience with and a passion for working outdoors in nature.
  • Positive and professional written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to do physically strenuous field work in rugged terrain, including the ability to lift and carry loads up to 50 pounds and hike up to 5 miles.
  • May be exposed to dirt, fumes, dust & outdoor elements (e.g. animals, insects, poison ivy)
  • Must have a reliable personal vehicle for transportation of self, tools, and supplies to field sites. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous trail maintenance, earthwork, or construction experience
  • Leadership or management experience Member/Program Benefits:
  • Living Stipend of up to $28,900.
  • Post service education award of up to $7,395.

  • Training on trail building and remediation, CPR/First Aid, safety, chainsaw training, pesticide application, job skills (e.g., interviewing, resume preparation), and more.
  • Mileage reimbursement (as applicable) *Camping and/or other accommodations may or may not be provided on-site at an ODNR property.

Member Duties : Members will engage in conservation and recreation projects throughout Casar Creek State Park. Duties will include manual labor, light carpentry, invasive species management, trail remediation, Grounds and infrastructure improvement projects. Crew Leaders will provide leadership and direction to a trail crew of four other members and coordinate on-site efforts.
