CUMULUS MEDIA | Albuquerque has an immediate opening for News Director. The ideal candidate is someone who is a local-first leader who understands story selection, the power of audio and sound along with the ability to grab the listener with compelling, fast-paced storytelling. We need someone who knows what breaking news is, how to respond to it, and most importantly, how to make our coverage shine! We are a fully staffed newsroom with all the tools you need. Now, we just need you to lead it! Social media skills (Facebook, Twitter (X), etc) are a must. You must also be willing to hit the street and report. The ideal candidate has over five years' experience in medium-to-major market broadcast news, should possess an extremely good work ethic, display a positive attitude, be a self-starter, and can lead a fast-paced newsroom.

Responsibilities/Our Opportunity
Coordinates and executes all on-site logistics for daily appearances and live broadcasts
Special assignment and long-range news planning
Must coordinate breaking news coverage and oversee content on the web and social media
Work with a variety of station personnel to produce a top-notch news cast twice per hour
Ability to develop key relationships in the city and state
Attends evening and weekend station events including client appearances, station events, etc., as needed
Provides regular performance feedback to staff.
Qualifications/Requirements
Job Requirements:
Highly organized with excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
Excellent On-Air delivery
Must possess a valid state driver’s license
Strong written and verbal communication, as well as interpersonal skills
Strong understanding of digital and social media
Requires in-office business hours with additional hours out of office, including nights, weekends, and some holidays
