Job Description

The Underwriting Supervisor plays a pivotal role in our mortgage team's success, focusing on exceeding client expectations and delivering exceptional service. This position is crucial for nurturing strong client relationships by ensuring timely, accurate, and detailed underwriting decisions. Representing our company with professionalism and empathy is paramount.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate urgency and commitment to delivering efficient service to internal and external clients.
  • Approach each file with a positive, problem-solving mindset, striving to approve every loan.
  • Maintain adherence to underwriting turn times and review all conditions promptly.
  • Conduct monthly audits to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Review and approve files requiring a second signature and provide guidance on complex transactions.
  • Train and support underwriting team members to ensure high-quality loan submissions.
  • Collaborate with team members and branch personnel to resolve underwriting-related issues promptly.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of recent experience in a Mortgage Underwriting Supervisory role with a focus on East Coast loans.
  • Experience with FHA and Conventional loan program guidelines, and proficiency with automated underwriting engines.
  • Strong knowledge of cash, income, credit, and property review processes.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and build positive relationships with team members and stakeholders.
