Job Summary

The Manager of Taxation will be responsible for tax compliance for the Brayman and Affiliated Entities. Tax compliance consists of income taxes and state & local taxes (sales, personal property, business) for a group of privately owned legal entities consisting of partnerships, s-corporations, and c-corporations. The ideal candidate for this position will have extensive knowledge of tax regulations, strong communication and organization skills, the ability to manage staff and prioritize tasks, the discretion to maintain confidentiality, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail. The Manager of Taxation will report to the Director and work closely with the Chief Financial Officer.

Schedule

The schedule for the Manager of Taxation is typically Monday - Friday from 8:00AM - 5:00PM. Based on project needs, some flexibility may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor tax filing schedules for schedules for multiple legal entities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Prepare income tax computations, quantify book / tax differences, generate state apportionment schedules, coordinate with tax consultants, and validate tax returns
  • Prepare or review returns for sales taxes, personal property taxes, and business & occupation taxes
  • Work with Management to ensure data necessary for tax compliance is readily available
  • Direct owner distributions, as needed, to satisfy passthrough tax obligations
  • Maintain equity and accrued distribution accounts by reconciling transaction activity and verifying balances
  • Manage document retention for tax files including electronic and paper filed documents
  • Manage periodic audits of federal, state, and local tax agencies
  • Perform tax research, as requested by Estimating team, on rates applicable to new jurisdictions
  • Collaborate with Job Cost, Treasury, and Financial Reporting to ensure accurate and reliable results
  • Manage relationship and engagement with tax consultants, which includes scope of work, invoices, and year-end workstream
  • Coordinate with outside investors and business partners to ensure all parties receive relevant tax information

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or similar field required
  • CPA
