Law Enforcement Liaison

Overview:

This Law Enforcement Liaison is a member of an interdisciplinary team of epidemiologists and public health consultants assisting Florida in its mission to protect, promote, and improve the health of people through integrated state, county, and community efforts. The team member will work remotely in Florida, part-time as an independent contractor for up to 20 hours per week to support the adoption of the Florida Violent Death Reporting System (FLVDRS) by law enforcement entities statewide. Preference will be given to those residing in or around the Tallahassee, Florida area. Some travel to law enforcement entities and relevant council and conference meetings may be required and approved expenses will be reimbursed.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for providing coordination, support, and technical assistance for efforts to integrate data routinely collected by law enforcement into the FLVDRS
  • Coordinate outreach and partnership building with law enforcement agencies and related partners in Florida to facilitate data sharing and dissemination
  • Serve as a point of contact for law enforcement agencies and ensure ongoing communication and follow-up to gather data and reports
  • Maintain accurate records of all correspondence, meetings, and other activities
  • Participate in meetings, calls, conferences, workshops, and other events with FLVDRS program staff as needed. Also participates on CDC and other national workgroups and communities
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge and understanding of law enforcement agencies, systems, and records. Current or past law enforcement experience and/or relationships with law enforcement agencies and associations both in Florida and nationally is preferred
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey clearly, accurately, and completely
  • Interpersonal skills to enhance collaboration with various staff members and program partners, as well as ability to work independently, solve complex problems creatively, and consistently meet deadlines with accuracy
  • Capacity to effectively prioritize work, meet project deadlines, plan, organize, and coordinate assignments.
  • Ability to organize data and information into logical formats for presentations, reports, documents, publications, and other written materials.
