Job Description

The Food Pantry Coordinator plays a pivotal role in leading the operations and initiatives of the Food Pantry ministries at Mariners Church Community Center. Reporting directly to the Community Center Director, the Food Pantry Coordinator is tasked with upholding the mission and objectives of the Food Pantry, fostering relationships with a dedicated team of volunteers, resourcing food pantries at congregations, and ensuring impactful service within both the local community and the church.

The Food Pantry Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

  • Daily Operations: Oversee the day-to-day activities of the Food Pantry, including inventory management, distribution logistics, and regular partner reports. Work with the Food Pantry volunteer leadership team to maintain operations that effectively address the needs of the community and align with the goals of Mariners Church (such as volunteer coordination, shift management, etc.).
  • Volunteer Development: Work with leads to train and empower volunteers to support various aspects of Food Pantry operations. Provide ongoing supervision, support, and encouragement to volunteers, fostering a collaborative and positive environment.
  • Community Engagement: Cultivate meaningful relationships with individuals and families accessing the Food Pantry services. Collaborate with local organizations, schools, and community leaders to strengthen partnerships and leverage resources for the benefit of the community.
  • Congregations: Work with Mariners Congregation Food Pantry leads and staff to ensure they are equipped to host their clients well. This will include sharing best practices, ensuring their records are up to date and coordinating with partners, staff and volunteers about weekly food pick ups.
  • Administration and Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Community Center Director and other coordinators to ensure consistency in programs, policies, and operational procedures. Maintain accurate records, including program attendance, financial updates, and relevant metrics. Collaborate on administrative tasks and contribute to strategic planning initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience (2-5 years) in a relevant field.
  • Possess good organizational skills and efficient work characteristics
  • Proficiency in PC systems and software applications, including Google Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer service-oriented attitude.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to identify, develop, and oversee volunteer leaders
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
