The Position: The Bakery Steward’s primary responsibility is to maintain a clean and safe kitchen area by washing and cleaning dishware, pots, pans, utensils, and other equipment as needed.  The Bakery steward in accordance with King Arthur Baking and Vermont food safety guidelines keeps the sink and equipment area clean and organized and maintains cleaning schedules for equipment, storage, and racking.

The Location: Norwich VT

The Hours: Monday through Thursday , 5:00am-1:00pm.

Pay: This Bakery Steward role has a starting rate of $17.34 per hour.

$500 sign-on bonus paid after 90 days of employment

Reports to Bakery Lead- Pastry

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibility for the cleanliness of pots, pans, dishware, and utensils 
  • Washes and stores all pots, pans, dishware, and utensils 
  • Keeps sink area clean and organized 
  • Takes out recycling materials and compost buckets to dumpster
  • Maintains adequate levels of dish detergents and cleaning supplies 
  • Assists with the final packaging of food products 
  • Cleans and sanitizes food preparation and production areas as required 
  • Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for all stations. Assists others in closing the kitchen 
  • Deep cleans the bakery (tables, speed racks, etc.) as needed
  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement 
  • Performs other kitchen maintenance duties as assigned

  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently push, pull, move and lift up to 50 pounds 
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)

Uniform

  • Footwear must be closed toed, non-slip shoes (provided)
  • Socks must be worn 
  • Long pants required 
  • Clean T-shirt (provided) 
  • Clean White apron (provided) 
  • Facial hair covering must be worn (hair/beard net) 
  • Jewelry is not permitted, exception: plain band.
