Associate Scientist, Analytical Sciences

FMC has an immediate opening for enthusiastic, creative, and talented Analytical Technicians to join our Global Analytical Sciences team. The Analytical Sciences team works as part of an interdisciplinary team to support the discovery and development pipeline.

The scope of this role includes support for process and formulations development, manufacturing of existing commercial and pipeline products, and defense of the current product portfolio. The role includes analytical support of all phases of R&D development. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new methods for qualitative and quantitative analyses under the direction of a Principal Investigator to meet business needs in a timely manner.
  • Conduct routine and non-routine analyses of discovery, process, technical, and formulations samples to meet project quality and timing needs.
  • Collect data, generate summaries and reports under GLP and other appropriate regulatory guidelines.
  • Operate, maintain and be technically competent in various types of analytical instrumentation (LC/UV, GC, IC, MS) including calibration and systems qualification to provide accurate and reliable data.
  • Manage lab safety and industrial hygiene aspects, including proper waste disposal procedures, to maintain a highly efficient and productive laboratory.
  • Interact with a diverse customer base on a variety of projects/tasks.
  • Provide oral and written presentations of technical and business-related work within work-team.

Required Education:

  • Bachelors degree in chemistry or equivalent experience with basic knowledge of analytical and organic chemistry. Chromatography (HPLC, UHPLC, GC) and mass spectrometric techniques (LC/MS, GC/MS) preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience in an industrial and/or R&D research laboratory setting (GLP experience a plus).
  • Experience with method development and analysis using chromatography (HPLC, IC, GC) with modern mass spectrometric (LC/MS, GC/MS) and spectroscopic (UV) techniques.
  • Track record of delivering on-time, quality results.
  • Experience in working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience managing multiple demands in timeline driven environment.
  • Familiarity with (or ability to rapidly learn) computers and software packages from various instrument manufacturers.
